Really? Dumb thread?  How many homers does he have since the all star break?  How many since July 1st?  Last night close game and any hit would have been clutch but Papi chooses to go 0 for 4.

Well he is fourth in the AL in OPS.  I don't know if you know this but that is considered good.

Last 7 games 8 for 28 with two home runs.

Bill and Jackbu need a new obsession.

Papi had 18hr thru june and 7 since with 39 games remaining. His second half numbers are on pace to be similar to his first half. He should have 30hr with 90+rbi a BA around .320 and a .400OBP .550slg

but you 2 keep making fools of youselves. The stats are easy to look up.

that's not what I asked?  I asked how many since the break and since July 1. I think 2 in july is the number for that month.

with that last strike out he is 1 for his last 11.

I guess I am of the sort that considers a guy that is 4th in the AL in OPS a good offensive player.

While you are off the sort that considers that he is not.

I don't think I really need to say anything else.

321 with three homers in August.

    Wow..he sure is slipping.

so five homers since july 1.  One against toronto who has a losing record, and one against the royals, 7.50 games out of first.  Let us see if he gets one tonight when the pressure to win is really on

Seven home runs since July 1. Guess counting isn't your forte either.

Four homers in July, three homers at the halfway point of August. Five home runs a month is a 30-home run pace, so he was one off for July but is on pace for six in August.

chooses? I've seen guys slump, seen guys look bad, and seen guys try hard to no avail, just unlucky at the plate. I've never once seen a MLB player choose to hit or not.

Oh so the rest of his at bats are meaningless and 11 at bats are a good sample size, thanks for enlightening us.

Bill you need to grow up a little bit.

Dad is pretty immature also for his age it seems.

You've been grinding this axe all season. Turns out you were fundamentally wrong about Ortiz so why not just admit that and go from there.

Sure, he's not going to give you what he once did consistently. It's called getting older.

But he has been a positive contributor this year, you could learn from his example, your slugging percentage on forum posts is far worse than his on the field.

You need to spend more time "rooting" for the Paw Sox. You're not ready to be a fan of the big club yet. Maybe in the 2015 season you'll get called up. Maybe!

Bill are you so upset about your failed perdiction that Ortiz wouldn't be able to play this year or he would be a ineffective player or that he would injuried within a few games that you have to write anti-Ortiz treads to feel better?

Serious question - would you not agree he has been the teams best and most consistent offensive force this season? Please answer that.
