Buchholz' yacker is nasty when it is on.  problem is, when it is not on, it is more like a 12-center of clock curve.

The nasty thing about Darvish's curve is that he has really nice control over it.  he can 12-6, he can 12-4 when he wants.  He throws strikes with it to spots.  Deadly.

    Re: Darvish

Darvish is lucky to pitch for a very good offense hitting team.  Right now he have threw over 100 pitches every time including three of them are over 110 pitches.

Wait until his team start to struggle offensively at the same time he will start to have a tire arm.  That was one of the reason why Texas starting pitching staffs all had a tire arm in the post season due they are over-pitching themselves!!

Funny part is that he is not the team best pitcher, he is currently ranked #3 best pitchers on the roster.  Guess Texas is having a heck of start!!

    Re: Darvish

Had he signed with the Sox he would not be nearly as good simply because the Sox would have pulled him after 90-100 pitches to protect their investment and this kid has been going as high as 120+ for Texas.   In other words he would have barely made it to the 5th inning in most games for the Sox before they went to the BP.  I do think that one needs to wait until Aug/Sep to see how he holds up since the MLB season is more demanding than the Japanese league.

I would be enlightening to read yesterday's thread about Yu Darvish on a Texas Rangers Forum and how they were all comparing him to Dice-K.
