Guys, the Yankees are so depsperate to put a team on the field, they tried to loor Chipper Jones, Derek Lee amd Scott Rolen out of retirement.  None of those guys want to leave their lounge chair for a sinking ship.  Word is Cashman will turn his attention to Mike Schmidt and Wade Boggs.

    Drop dead.

Pretty harsh for a Smiley thread, wouldn't ya say?  Perhaps Yankee fans are a little overly sensitive these days (cue Nelson Muntz as I smirk).

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and interpret your post as "Dropo dead", Dropo being Walt Dropo, who played first base for the Red Sox and retired from baseball in 1961.  And no, he is not available to play for the Yankees this season, as he did in fact die in 2010 at the age of 87.  So yes, "Dropo dead."

    Rest in peace, Walt Dropo.

The question is, can the RS finish ahead of a team that would try to add 87 yr old dead players?

Unfair, NH Steven.  You know that they'll send the corpses of those dead octogenarians to Dominican specialist, Dr. Francisco-Estein, who will regenerate their cells and have them slugging homers in the Bronx in no time.

Re: Desperate Yankees Trolling the Retired

Give Cashman some credit, at least he's thinking outside the box. No one looking to trade a 1b or 3b this time of the year, basically leaves players who don't have a place in other teams organizations. The Ben Francisco's of the world are not going to get Yanks where they want to be. If Chipper came out of retirement [we know he can still hit - field different story] DH'd for a couple of mos. and gave Yanks a quality bat in middle of their lineup until Granderdson or Tex return, what would be wrong w/ that? Even though Chipper said "Thanks, but no Thanks" at least Cash is making every attempt to make his team better. With RS luck if Chipper or D.Lee said yes they'd probably hit .310 w/ 6 hrs 21 rbi's for the mos of april.

Yes, by all means. They are putting in calls to dead people too using the "Long Island Medium". Now is your big chance to play for NYY.

You do realize what the standings were last yr? While they look awful, the RS, coming off a pathetic 81 - 112 stretch, still have to prove they can do better than this mess of a team. If they do, it'll be the 1st time since 2008.

I wouldn't count on it. However, you never know; maybe they shall.

I can only assume, you're forgetting about all the injuries.

The NYY had plenty as well. Every yr the same excuse. Good question though; why does it appear to happen to them so much? And with a relatively younger team?

They did, but you posted last week, the Sox had more. I wasn't asking you about why, just that it was a fact, you seemed to have forgotten. If I remember correctly, the NYY were healthy, for the ALCS

Yes, they had more. Yes, the NYY were basically healthy for the ALCS, but managed to finish 1st and win 95 games despite their own long string of injuries which they persevered through, but it started catching up to them in September; Would you like to feebly debate that? However, their resilient character in 2012 shall be non existent this yr IMO, due to the departures of Chavez, Ibanez, & others. Bench is important. And yes, you are posturing, in response to my comment, which was a response to others in a slightly different context. Few in the media, Boston included, think the RS were nothing but a dismal failure in the past few yrs, injuries or not.

Not disputing any of that.  Your snarky comments aren't necessary, IMO.  We're fully aware of the Red Sox record.  They're our team, win or lose.

I for one will not miss him hotdogging out in rf missing the cut-off man with his throws I much prefer Ichiro over Swisher's blinding speed.

Few in the media, Boston included, think the RS were nothing but a dismal failure in the past few yrs, injuries or not.

Not disputing any of that.  Your snarky comments aren't necessary, IMO.  We're fully aware of the Red Sox record.  They're our team, win or lose.

Isn't this a snarky thread? This is what I mean about context.

It does, and good point; I was thinking of responding to it, but didn't. My bad. It should be reported. And I've posted in the past other responses to some of his unsavory posts. Sometimes, he's a good poster; he blows hot & cold.

Along that vein, I as well wonder why you haven't responded  to some of the ersatz posters; do as I say, not as I do.

    I do.

Unlike you, I don't care what team they root for....

    Drop dead.

Not from what I've seen, and I'm guessing I missed those; and as far as I'm involved, incorrect, perhaps to the point of lame rebuttal. Babe claims I'm a RS fan due to the way I post, and I've had arguments with other NYY posters.

However, you're entitled to your contrived & mis-informed opinions, of course.

Your team is getting trashed and that's all you got.

March 12, the last time I checked the season hasn't started yet.

I think maybe we should let them play out the season before writing the script.

            I haven't written a script.

Just noted your team is being trashed on this board and your response was "heels".

Yankees being trashed on this board irregardless of talent isn't something new as far as I know.

i don't think Rolen is official...he turned down a return to Reds' camp....

He's washed up Jete. All he did was stand in Todd Frazier's way last year, and the bum struck out with the tying runs on base to end the game against SF and lose the series. Also errored a ball in game three, which contributed largely to the Red's loss in that game. He was great once, not no mo. He just can't do it anymore.

i agree Exam, just saying he's not retired in the "traditonal" sense, tho he probably should be....was terrific for a long time, but is clearly not the answer for the Yanks..nor is Lee or Chipper(who i WILL miss as a player).....

    LOL

    Babe is an idiot.

I don't think arguing with him really counts!

But, hey, just keep complaining about the state of the board in one thread and adding to the mess, in another...

The prospect of the Yankees missing the playoffs this year have made you cranky.
