We will see if one of these guys will be willing to play an Ortiz factor and not wear a glove all year. Do you think that they will do a DH by commitee? They are in a pickle. Lots of payroll and the left side of their team is still the Bermuda triangle of defense. Lots of defensive holes and a pitching staff that may pay a price for the lack of defense. Sox now have the bucks to pry one of these guys loose. Verlander still brings it, but has been blistered by bad luck all year. The owner has long favored putting money in to hockey team. If Tigers miss playoffs, Ilitch may have a "mini" fire sale. This needs watching.
Speculation even about Sciosia getting the door if Angels don't make playoffs. Grab him if they fail. Dodgers are still struggling with Josh and A Gon. Love it. -

Wouldn't mind seeing Vmart come back. He is the perfect clubhouse guy and versitile. 100 RBIs wouldn't be bad either! -

Depends on how much salary Detroit picks up. He could be good for .300 plus 12-15 HRs, with a return to high OBP and character.
Just not for the remaining $25M/2. -

I do not think that Ortiz is likely to land in Detroit unless the Tigers move either Martinez or Fielder as one of those guys will be their DH next year unless moved. It is not likely that they will want to move Fielder and Martinez could be very difficult to move after his knee injury.
There are some other teams that also will not have much of a monetary interest in Ortiz. He will be back in Boston. -

He's worth at least 10M. What's an additional 2.5 to have all that production? -

I agree with Ike....if VMart is healthy he'd be a good 2-year fit at 1B and would deliver a good chunk of AGon's 22-million dollar performance for around half the price. -

That's a really good idea. I could certainly live with that! -
