Just thinking the same thing.  Just release him.  What's the difference?  They have paid him all year to sit on a bench somewhere.  Let him sit at home insead.

Let someone else toss the ball for 5 innings.  Someone who will appreciate the opportunity and will actually be here next season!

No this is a classic where the talent evaluators on the Sox stink. Kuroda who has been a darn good pitcher who didn't get the headlines, was signed by Dodgers and did a good job. Also much older.

    [/QUOTE]

There wasn't a scout or talent evaluator on Earth who thought Kuroda would be better than Daisuke.  In fact, early in Daisuke's career, he was referred to as "the best pitching prospect in the world."

They are scouts, not psychics.  There is a differenence.

The only "classic" occurence here is Red Sox fans desperately searching for blame and ignoring reality and reason in order to find it...

Or you could ask, what is the harm in keeping him?

First of all, send him down where?  Down town?  You can't just demote players to the minors any time you want if they are out of options (as every 6 year veteran is).

Second - the season is over.  He's not going to ruin it.  Why do you care if Daisuke pitches, or should we risk injury to the younger guys with needless innings?  Hey, Barnes hasn't had TJ yet.  How can we speed that up?

Third - are you really calling out the Sox in September, 2012 for not making sure Daisuke is not on their roster in 2013?  Really?  Get some patience...

"Or you could ask, what is the harm in keeping him?"

True - he could play out the string but since he has less trade value than a pack of big league chew and since he is NOT coming back, not much point in playing him is there?

Wouldn't you agree it's better to use the rest of this lost season to say, try a new starter or someone you want to get a better read on? Wouldn't it be better to risk injury and/or losses now that next season when the games will matter?

Yeah the OP is waaay over the top but the basic sentiment, don't play Dice K again, has quite a bit of merit.

Since he will not be back--let him do mop up work--there should be plenty of it with the Yanks, O's and Rays fighting it out--no mercy from any of them.

I would like to see them give Aceves a shot to see if he can go 6 a few times? My goal now would be , as others have said, let's see what we may have for 2013.
