posted at 6/24/2012 11:45 AM EDTSaw a program on either ESPN or MLB where they talked to players from the 40's, 50's and 60's. They all said they had a hard time with guys going on the DL with some of the injuries they had. Had no issue with broken bones/dislocations but pulled muscles they had a problem with. They all said no one was coming up and taking their place because they pulled a hammy or other or hurt a finger. All stated wrap my leg I'm playing. Some pitchers with sore shoulders just got a real good rub down to get that "knot" out and went out an pitched. Others wrap my leg real tight and played. Was very interesting to hear what players went thru on a daily basis just to play back then. Did say that they understand the money and investment in current players and being careful now a days.
