In Response to Re: Do Varitek and Wakefield deserve better than this?:Don't state facts, moon. If you do, you end up forcing the ignorant to say things like "so, what does that matter, he's old! he's fat! he's not reliable!!!"...Facts and opinion seem to have no relation on most of these threads anyway. It's par for the course.
Posted by dannycaterYeah, 7 of the last 8 seasons have seen Wake have a nice start to the season, but that means nothing, because Wake is fat, old, and more importantly continously proving guys like mr hanky wrong again and again. -

I didn't say he wasn't fat, I said he wasn't "that fat".
PC describes your drivel. Wastefield has continued to prove you wrong, again and again and again. The man stinks and has zero market value!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

A lot can happen between now and the start of the season. Having those two in the wings with no commitment is not a bad decision for the Sox. One has to consider that with 180+ mil spent on the Liverpool franchise last year and an obvious lack of willingness to spend this year...Wake at least, might be something the Sox FO is (regrettably for fans) looking at as a cheap solution to an injury prone staff. -

Posted by travenVTek as a coach makes some sense, and if we have a catcher injury or two. perhaps he could be activated, but I do not see it happening, since we have Lava in the wings.Wake makes the most sense, but I doubt Ben brings him back.
