    Dog Days

The Dog days of August are upon us and if the cliche wasn't true, well, it wouldn't be a cliche. The Sox and their closest pursuers the (Deviled) Rays of Tampa are enjoying a day off today. The Fenways will have seven more days off to luxuriate in, if not rest, and soothe their collective battered bodies. The Rays will have just three days of rest between now and the end of September. Throw in a left coast trip with the A's, Angels and Mariners in that order too, so it's Northern Cali, to Southern Cal, to the great North West, and it's high time to fire the schedule maker! Joe Maddon has even come up with a team theme for this trip, the Rays will be dressing as a group of exhausted ball players.

At this point in the season, all are surprised that the Sox have reached this point, FIRST PLACE!

The Rays may not be "Going Away", as was so famously stated, but they will be going, and going and going between now and the official end of the regular season. The Rays website has the hash tag "one more game", isn't that prophetic? Might want to fire that guy too.

    Re: Dog Days

Sox have brutal schedule coming up, go home play Yanks at 8 final game, then fly out to San Francisco, play next night. They were out in Oakland should have just done the whole road trip one shot, they would be getting used to West Coast. This is tough at this time of year.

    Who thought this up?

Got to love that in spite of going 3-4 last week the Sox picked up two games on the Rays. This is market correction. The Rays weren't as good as the showed in July and are reverting. I figure they lose the next series or two finish the month alright and fight for the WC in September.

The rays had fantastic winning streak. The sox have been playing consistently all year. Baseball is a marathon, constancy beats flash.
