    Re: Draft Pick Deadline

This was a good haul for the Sox as they spent 9 million on todays signings: Barnes,Bradley,Owens,Swihart and Betts, they did lose out on the kid Golson as it appears as if he'll be headed to Ole Miss too play DB. The shocker was Swihart as it seemed a fait accompli that he was headed to Texas to play College ball but I guess the Sox ponying up 2.5 million reason to forego his education had a lot to do with his signing....

I'm kind of surprised they signed Swihart.I figured he'd wouldn't change his mind about going to play for the University of Texas.I wonder if the trip to Fenway and hitting some balls over the Monster helped to persuade him.
Whatever it was,I'm glad he signed.

Bradley wont like Boston, if he ever plays his MLB time there. SC is a fine baseball state.

The Sox don't use first rd picks on guys they won't sign.  They most likely knew approximately what it would take all along.

    aren't you a sox fan?

so he wont' enjoy Baseball in Boston yet SC is a fine baseball state.  Are you trying to say that Boston is not a baseball city? or not a fine baseball city?

I'm starting to believe these accusations that you aren't a sox fan at all.

He's quickly stirring up trouble - Bradley hasn't been a member of the Sox for more than 24 hours and yet Softy's already inferring that Bradley has the Bonds complex...

according to Jackie Bradley's twitter account he seems to be very happy today.

" I want to thank Boston for the opportunity. It really means a lot to see how much faith they have in me."

"I'm excited to be apart of such a great nation. And I'm ready to give it my all. No complaints and no excuses!"

    Re: Draft Pick Deadline

The Sox got some talented players in this draft class...

Being a UCONN alum I have had a chance to watch Barnes many times in person and I was thrilled when they selected him. I have no doubt he will eventually be in the RS rotation.

    http://mlbdraftguide.com/1/2011/03/20/matt-barnes-draft-profile/

Bradley is a two-time CWS champ that plays centerfield. To imagine playing style, think Michael Bourn or Kenny Lofton with power.

    http://mlbdraftguide.com/1/2011/03/13/jackie-bradley-jr/

Swihart was the best catcher in the country and in a high schooler. Great switch hitter with power and athleticism.

One in the draft day steal cateogry, 2 in the most likely to have long productive careers category, and signed one from the most likely to go to college category. I'll take it.
