I remember Charles Finley offering Vida Blue $100,000 (When that was still a lot of money) to change his name legally to "True Blue"

My 8-year-old used to call J.D. Drew "Rat Killer." I asked him why, and he said, "Well, every time he comes up to bat, you say, 'Here comes the rat killer.'"

Took me a while to figure it out ... I was saying "Here comes the rally killer." Either way, J.D. is known as "Rat Killer" in the Dobler household.

I remember that too.  Vida thought it was stupid, said he'd only do it if Finley would change HIS name to "True Finley."

One of the great quotes ever:

After the Celtics were blown out by LA in Game 3 of the '84 Finals, Maxwell told reporters the C's were playing "too dorsal" (meaning, of course, docile). The comment was relayed to McHale, who said, "Well, we did play a lot like fish."

That team was not only awesome, it had a ton of character.

Best Sox closer--- not a chance.  He could'nt close out the Mets in game 6 of the 86 WS-- along with Calvin Schiraldi.

I wasn't alive when he pitched, but have any of you heard of "The Monster"? Dick Radatz is the best closer in Red Sox history. He faced Mickey Mantle 58 times and struck him out 44 times.
