Crawford's arm strength is a liability in left, there is no way he can play right.  Singles to right would be an automatic first to third.

Really Pesky? You expect Maddon to win rings with a payroll a tenth the size of Boston's? That's your judgement of a good manager? How about he's beaten Tito 2 out of three years. (has it been even worse than that?)

Or how about you watch a game when we play the Rays. He makes a mockery of Tito every time we play. Remember last year when Crawford stole 6 bases on us in one game? This year it's his new left fielder that steals on us at will.  And do we have Crawford stealing on them?

Whatever pitcher comes here also mysteriously loses his ability to hold on runners as well. Or maybe it's that Tito doesn't see it as important, which he has admited.

Keeping Bogar as a third base coach is a good reason to fire somebody !!

Re: Fire the piece of garbage Francona!

The Sox have a shot at winning it all most every year due to the teams budget.

Rays 2011 payroll just over $42 million.

Red Sox 2011 payroll nearly $164 million.

Which GM, of those 2 teams, has the more difficult job?
Careful what you wish for. The Sox have a chance to win it all most every year due to Theo. A majority of the teams in MLB need every single possible break to go their way just to have a sniff. Has he made mistakes/bad signings? Uh, yes, but what GM hasn't? He's one of the best GM's in baseball. Besides, isn't there a 5 year window after you win a World Series? Next season will be year 5...

I think it's fair to blame Francona for Bogar still being at third base, let's be real about it the guy has sucked for the past 2 seasons !!

Oh Pesky you are such a moron. Is Tito your Daddy?

They screw up on the bases every night. If this were the only time, then we could say that it was Bogar's fault. But this is the last game of the year and they did it every night. When it happens too many times, it's the manager's job to fix it, don't you think? Or do you think he should just keep making excuses for everyone like he does?

I think a manager should eventually make sure that pathetic baserunning doesn't happen over and over again, which is just one of many reasons that I think Tito has earned a firing.

Fire Francona!

And numbnuts, saying that Tito should've pinch hit for Lavarnway is in no way in contrast to saying that Lavarnway should've started.

He should've started, and Tito should've pinch hit for him with a lefty. See?
He has to PH for Lavarnway.  Ridiculous and worthy of firing over that.
Posted by Schumpeters-Ghost
Disagree, I wouldn't have PH for him. If the "moment" was too big for Lavarnway, then you would've seen Salty behind the plate today. He had a big offensive year and also a big day at the plate yesterday.

Point is, a dribbler in front of home plate isn't going to get it done, he needed to work the count to get a pitch to drive to the outfield. Not jump after the first pitch.

But this is not the reason the Sox lost the game. The RS had many opportunities to put it away throughout the last month of the season and they didn't. They didn't deserve it this year.

Most of the players didn't have Lousy years but, most of the players on the team were managed lousy this season and last !! This is a team that had no less then 3 players being seriously considered for MVP, with one of them most likely winning it, this season yet the manager couldn't find a way for his team to play .500 ball in Sept. The good news for You Pesky is Tito won't be fired. You have to have a job to get fired from !!

Posted by thepeskypole6
1.  I never said that - and didn't post once last night.

2.  What does starting him have to do with situational managing?  We all wanted him to start Papi - that didn't mean that Tito didn't PR for Papi.  Why in the hell would a kid with TWO professional starts bat with the sacks loaded when you have Reddick and Lowrie on the bench?  A hit there - even a sac fly - would have been huge.

You keep trying to act like you "know baseball" and then you ignore this obvious jacked up move by Tito.

Re: Fire the piece of garbage Francona!

First of all, Tito is a good human being, and is far from "garbage".
He has won two World Series.
Francona was given people like Crawford, Lackey and Dice K. He HAD to play them to justify the massive investment the team (and Theo) put in them.
You can nit pick this move or that, but Francona has been the most successful manager in Sox history.
Theo Epstein is the one who needs to go, not Francona.
Maybe they'll clean house with his coaches.
Jim Rice was talking about how this clubhouse was not focused on business, but there seems to be a lot of video games, noise and other things going on, not baseball related.
Maybe Tito no longer reaches his players? None of us know that for sure. It's possible. If that is the case, then he should go, because you can't fire the players.
In Response to Re: Fire the piece of garbage Francona! : I am sure if Reddick or Lowrie struck out the board would have agreed and said that Francona made the right move and the fault for striking out was on the player....right?.....You agree with that right? lol
Posted by thepeskypole6
Who cares what the board thinks?

What do you think?  Do you think he should have used a LH PH there?

It seems like the MOST obvious coaching move - but maybe you think coaches should play hunches with 24 year olds who are starting their SECOND game ever.

PH a lefty there was the right move no matter how it turned out.

This is two years in a row we don't even get to be in the postseason. Isn't that bad enough?

Oh, and when all those experts are predicting a Boston World Series Title, they don't mention Francoma as one of the reasons. It's the talent that he's been given that makes the expectations so high.

Two years in a row, no postseason.

Sure I would, but in order to do that he'd have to manage well, and he doesn't.

And Maddon has finished higher than Tito in 3 of the last 4 years, which is pathetic. Wouldn't it be nice to have a real manager? Hopefully we'll find out.
