Sure I would, but in order to do that he'd have to manage well, and he doesn't. And Maddon has finished higher than Tito in 3 of the last 4 years, which is pathetic. Wouldn't it be nice to have a real manager? Hopefully we'll find out.

Yet Francona's two rings mean nothing to you....2004 he beat the Yankees who had a much higher payroll and 2007 won the title and the division and had the second highest payroll in the division

But you didn't answer my question Pesky. Should you be allowed to miss the playoffs two years in a row with that much talent?

Is Tito to be held responsible for anything?

In Response to Re: Fire the piece of garbage Francona! : Who cares what the board thinks? What do you think?  Do you think he should have used a LH PH there?  It seems like the MOST obvious coaching move - but maybe you think coaches should play hunches with 24 year olds who are starting their SECOND game ever. PH a lefty there was the right move no matter how it turned out.

This entire thread is about what the board thinks and all the threads about why Tito should be fired and they contradict themselves. The logical move would be to pinch hit a lefty but as I said if it did not work out these would be the comments "tito needs to stop using his damn computer and his damn fascination with lefty/righty splits...He is such a Coma, Maddon would not have done that"

Now maybe I am wrong...but have you ever defended a move that Francona has made that did not turn out well?  The example being this one if Lowrie came into pinch hit and popped up

Man, you guys are priceless. The point is that Lackey and Crawford are proven great players and they turn to crap under Francona. Don't you wonder how Lackey was an ace for so long under Sciosia, or how Crawford was an All Star for so long under Maddon. Seriously, compare Maddon to Francona. Really, you guys need to just shut up tonight.

Here is what you are missing...you go to the extremes...I am defending him because the constant Francoma crap is stupid. He is blamed for EVERYTHING. Do I think he needs to have some blame? Yes I do...not for specific moves but for maybe the culture. Maybe he has been there too long and the players have tuned him out...maybe his style has worn thin..all valid points. But to call him Francoma, to say he is a moron, to say he doesnt know baseball, to say he couldnt manage a little league team is crap and when I get on here and defend him from this comments I get "so you dont think he ha done anything wrong huh? You think he is perfect? yeah, you are a moron then"....uh huh

As I said, I am sick of the notion that when the Sox wins it is because of the talent and the payroll..when they lose it is all him

You want to compare Maddon and Francona? Let's go...we know about the rings...how about job pressure? Who has a tougher job?  Maddon has 10 Rays fans, one beat writer and one newspaper...any success the Rays have is icing on the cake..they win 82 games and he has done a great job because of his payroll.

Tito must win a ring every year or he is a moron and even when he wins a ring then it is because of the payroll and he is supposed to do it. It's crap..all of it.

And the first year Maddon and the Sox get swept in the playoffs or dont make the playoffs then you will call him MORDON and wish you had Kirk Gibson because he wins his division every couple years with a low payroll

I am advocating for a new manager however I disapprove of dissing the man with headlines such as "moron, garbage, etc.," as these are cruel terms for a manager who helped bring two rings. Perhaps his time has come but he deserves respect none the less.

Re: Fire the piece of garbage Francona!

Last night Darnell McDonald hit a pop fly to just the right spot in right field. The ball landed in between the 2nd baseman, the 1st baseman, and the rightfielder. When it landed it glanced off a players glove and went about 10 feet away. A player with McDonald's speed should've easily been on 3rd, but he pouted and jogged down to first base, only pulling into 2nd after the ball landed.

It's the manager's responsibility to fix that right when it happens, which should have been several years ago for Francona. On this team that's the norm.

On the Yankees, even Teixeira runs out popups. He hustles his a ss off. So does everyone else. And everyone on the Rays too. Watch them.

On our team, a player that hits .230 can loaf and not get a word said to him. That's on Francona.

You contend but you have no idea...How do you know what Maddon would do with high priced talent with ego's? How do you know what he would do with the expectation that you must win it all to be a success? You dont know....he manages young kids and journeyman players...he does a great job with them...and no doubt he is a vey good manager...but nobody knows how that would translate to Boston...just look at Crawford...he is a shell of himself making the move in his first year...that can happen to managers as well...just a thought

Who could deny that the past two seasons, in particular, the teams fundementals have fallen off the table completely. There hasn't been any sense of urgency all season and I believe this team thought they could just turn it on at any minute and that obvioulsy didn't happen !! Who is the blame for that ?? Two more little league baserunning errors tonight and during a season you really need a manager that can tell players when they've screwed up and not just say, "oh, that's in the past" all season long. I was complaining about Francona when we were winning because bad baseball is bad baseball, and it usually catches up with you. That's three times in recent years it's caught up with Francona. He gets more talent than anybody and does so little with it. A frog could've managed this team to 100 wins. Francona managed 90. Fire the clown.

Hey when you've seen his idiocy for as long as I have you realize that as a manager he truly is a piece of garbage.

I watch many of the games on the other team's home network. The announcers always start off talking about what a great manager he is. I grimace and wait because by the end of the game they are usually flummoxed that he either did or didn't do something. It's usually that he didn't do something, hence the "coma" comments.

He's an awful baseball manager and that's what it took to keep this team of MVP candidates out of the postseason.

isn't a piece of garbage. I think he should just resign
or step aside. I look foward to following his career

When we have seen him for as long as you have? Did he manage some games that only you got to see? You have NO IDEA waht makes a good major league manager...you just need someone to bash little boy.... I will ask the question that NEVER gets answered by people like you.... who would you replace him with? Answer with candidates who are not currently under contract to another team, dead or have no experience managing at any level. You wont answer of course...but I will wait. You piece of garbage.

How about when the media would ask Francona about a specific awful play. A sloppy, no hustle play that you should never see in MLB. Francona, night after night, would say, "that's in the past" and "he tries harder than anybody" and "we're focused on the future because what happened in the past doesn't matter".

Well, it never got fixed. It just never got fixed. It didn't last year either.
