Where's softy claiming the Marlins were going to dump salary, and that they were "the model for small market teams to follow".?

Wow!  Lose your home and get a season ticket to the Marlins.

Now, that's marketing at its best!

Can you really argue with that? I haven't heard the rest of his argument, but they won the World Series in 1997, traded away most of the team.  Then using the prospects they got through those deals and really high draft picks, they built another World Series champion in 2003.  During that span, I can't recall ever hearing some big name free agent signing there.  They have traded away guys like Miguel Cabrera, Dan Uggla, Josh Beckett, Mike Lowell, Adrian Gonzalez, Carlos Delgado, Juan Pierre, Dontrelle Willis, Luis Castillo, Derrek Lee, and Brad Penny. That was between the trade deadline in 03 and the 07-08 offseason.  After 1997, they moved Charles Johnson, Robb Nen, Al Leiter, Kevin Brown, Jeff Conine, Bobby Bonilla, Edgar Renteria, Moises Alou, and Gary Sheffield.

Just some politician trying to make a name for themselves.  They should call the Saints and ask them how well that worked out in 2005.

Of course what they really want is to keep these people who might vote for a Democrat out of the voting booths.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding (happens to me alot), but how does giving someone a place to sleep keep them out of the voting booth?
