Quelle surprise.  That guy had serious issues when he played, of the type that tend not to go away.  Cue the column from his old pal Shaughnessy.

Former Red Sox outfielder Carl Everett was arrested late Monday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with a witness.

According to a Hillsborough County police report, the 39-year-old Everett pointed a gun at his wife's head and then broke two cell phones when she attempted to call for help. The arrest took place shortly after 10 p.m., with the former outfielder being held in a Hillsborough County Jail with no bond set according to Tampa Bay Online.

The report states that the argument between the former big leaguer and Linda Everett escalated when he pointed a silver handgun at her head. When she attempted to call 911 on two different occasions, with two different phones, Everett broke both calling devices. The couple has been married for 18 years.

Everett played with the Red Sox in 2000 and 2001 after the team acquired the outfielder for Adam Everett and Greg Miller. After hitting a combined 48 home runs, with batting averages of .300 and .257, the Sox traded him to Texas for Darren Oliver.

It's a shame a guy as talented as he was couldn't get rid of the chip he had on his shoulder. His first year with the Sox he had 30 HRs and 11 stolen bases. He could of had a very good to great career in baseball.Instead,he's known for being a jerk both in the clubhouse and in the real world.

That "chip" may have motivated him in the first place.

Yeah but it was great to see him headbutt umpire Kulpa. Lol.  Kulpa was a moron and tried to show him up by relining the batter's box and Everett gave him a shot Coco Brazil would have been proud of.  I only wish Carl had picked Kulpa up and given him the DDT right on home plate.

Btw umpire Rodriquez Angel Hernandez needs a damn headbutt too.  He has it in for th Sox and consistently squeezes their pitchers while calling Sox hitters out on pitches well off the plate.  We need another Carl Everett to step up and knock some sense into him.
