Fox Sports:Red Sox aren’t panicking about rotation – yet -Should they be?

    Jon Paul Morosi/Fox Sports

Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz are on the disabled list, and Josh Beckett will throw a side session today that determines whether he can make his scheduled start on Sunday.

And yet, sources say the Red Sox haven’t started an all-out search for starting pitching help.

The team is evaluating trade possibilities, as always, but it doesn’t appear that Red Sox scouts are making special trips to see starting pitchers – at least not yet.

Two sources, in fact, suggested that a right-handed-hitting outfielder remains the team’s biggest deadline priority. Boston is among the teams that have checked in on Mets switch-hitting outfielder Carlos Beltran.

No need to panic.  The Sox have deep pitching and he rotation will be back in order shortly.

Their top 3 starters have issues, Dice-K is gone for the season and they're left with the likes of Lackey & Andrew Miller?  I'd say that's panic time.  They've had such great offense that they have a great record but they need Beckett, Lester, and Buchholz healthy.

Can always use a pitcher, there's alot of baseball left to play and alot of injuries can still happen.

Not when they have as much $$$$ as they have. But, Miller needs at least a couple of years at AA learning how to pitch. He also needs another pitch to go with his fastball. He doesn';t have one, now.

Yhey'll have to go on the market and get someonew who can go 6 innings. Wake will not finish the year as a starter, that's a given. He's almost an AARP candidate, and doing the best he can, but time, s running out.

Howver, one serious injury to Beckett, Buck, or Lester, and it will be panic-time!

What would make the Francona think he can continue to roll the dice with  someone like Miller.  And why wait until 7 runs have crossed the plate before turninng to Aceves.  Has to be very discouraging to the hitters to watch the scoreboard light up giving them no chance to get back into it.  It's really absurd.

uhh ya its panick time. lester is on the DL, buchholz is on the DL and wont be back for awhile, beckett is not 100%, lackey is well lackey, wakefield is useless, and miller just got his bell rang by the rays.(the only good team he has faced). Time to up the urgency theo!

Last I heard Lester is feeling fine and Beckett will pitch Sunday. Buch should not be rushed, but I think he will be back in time to help.

Wake is far from "useless". Even with all his tough luck this year, his numbers are decent.
