Starting Lackey is the right thing to do?  Since when?  Last time it was the right thing to do was the early 2000's.

Unbelievable, isn't it?  We'll not go to the postseason but we'll have achieved keeping Aceves in the bullpen, which was the goal for the season.

It amazes me how people just jimp on the Aceves as a starter bandwagon. like him being a starter would solve all the team's woes!

The fact is, that Aceves can not be a one man rotation, as it all the starters that have let the team down in September. Granted that Lackey is a major disappointment this year, as he was in 2010, but losing Buccholz ripped at the core of this entire staff and forced the team to rely on Lackey, Wakefield, Miller and the Bedard to take on 3/5 of the rotation.

The fact that Aceves has been in the 'pen probably allowed them to win the 4 games they won this September...if Aceves starts and pitched at best 6 innings, who finishes for him, assuming he was even winning when he left??

His being a starter only means giving us a shot at winning, that's why people have wanted it--with Wake and Lackey, you need to score 8 runs and more to have a shot at winning.  In Lackey's last turn, we scored 11 runs in 4 innings, and Lack left in the 5th leading 11-8, it's absurd.

So you think the solutuion is to replace Lackey and Wakefield with Aceves?

The Sox spent half of September down FOUR STARTING PITCHERS.  You can't fix that by moving Acevesto the rotation.

Aceves might have been a reasonable option if anyone else stepped up in the pen.  The disappearing act of Wheeler and the collpase of Albers have made Aceves a necessity right where he is.

Aceves doesn'y help that he has a 5.14ERA and a 1.57WHIP as a starter this year.  Small sample I know, but nothing that should encourage weakening the bullpen and further extending the career high IP Aceves already has in 2011...

Not to mention that Aceves hasn't pitched more than 4 IP since June 21. Amazes me how some think you can wave a magic wand and, presto-changeo, a reliever used to throwing 2-3 innings a game at most can suddenly go out and throw 6 or 7.

notin your right. People think we should create another hole in the pen just for the sake of running a non-starter out there who probably will get his azz kicked. Aceves stays right where he is and hopefully still performs as he has, providing Tito's overuse has not fried him already.

Fried Aceves. That rivals pickled crickets!

Aceves is much more valuable as a bridge to the Bard/Paps combo.

Some people may say that is "a bridge too far."
