Red Sox are a win away from setting franchise record for most wins before the break, currently held by 1978 and 2008 squads.

The 1978 team played 83 games before the break. This year's team (and the 2008 team) will play 97.

Tentative plan for Buchholz involves sim game next week, then rehab appearance.

Farrell mentioned would like to see LHP Drake Britton in the majors soon, perhaps in relief.

Re: Game 95: Red Sox at Athletics

Given the two other pitchers we have going in this series (Lesster and Workman) this is the game we have to win. Anything can happen, of course, but I would not trust Lesster out there against a quality team, and Workman is an untested rookie pitching in his second game. Lackey has to pitch a gem tonight. Win tonite and anything else is gravy.

WE ARE ALL JUST POPPYSEEDS IN THE BAKERY OF LIFE

Yes but he is gutting it out and pitching.  He is keeping team in the game without his best stuff.  That is BIG difference between him and Lester.  No way Lester does that.  Sox fans should all be loving Lackey for what he is doing this year.

This would be a nice win if we can get it, especially with Rays losing.

Napoli obviously wasn't looking for fastball right down the middle there. Wow!
