To date I'd say this is the biggest game of Workmans career.  Definitely going to be a test for the young starter.  Hopefully he can rise to the challenge.

    Marc Topkin @TBTimes

Rays are 1-5 thus far in Fenway this season, in large part because Sox pitchers have a 1.80 ERA in those games

Dr Andrews concurs with Red Sox doc opinion no structural damage just inflammation in buchholz neck. Will continue throwing.

Good news on Buchholz, thanks, 2004idiot.

Tonight is a big deal only if the Rays lose.  Moore has their best ERA and won-lost record, and Workman is like his name.

Why wouldn't it be? He came in relief in his first game, this is only his third game, and it's against the Rays.

this is probably a horrible jinx, but.... so far i love this Workman kid. "Works" fast and doesn't seem to be afraid of anybody.

So far Workman has been off, he's not fooling anyone and his location has been poor. I wonder if it would be different w/ Salty catching.

anyone else noticing that Iggy is back to that swinging for the fences swing? He was that way for the longest time when he first came up but then seemed to shorten his swing with great results....

Am I the only one that really dislikes the Rays.   It just isn't fair that a team with such a low payroll can be so successful.  The Red Sox played very well and still lost since the Rays pitching was so impressive.

Re: Game Thread 101: Rays at Red Sox

That was the most dominant performance against the Sox this year...IMHO. Workman pitched pretty good also...gave up one run in the first and the other run was a gift...Zobrist was out at first. You can't win a game if you can't score and the Sox were handcuffed by Moore...just have to tip your cap to the Rays today and beat them tomorrow. Good news about Buchholz today ...that's a big relief to know he will be back and in the meantime it looks like Workman can hold his own.
