Big surprise on Ortiz.  I figured he would get a lifetime ban for going after a helpless telephone.  Plus he talked back to the umpire and lost his temper.  Will no one stand up for ordinary American telephone (or wherever it's made)?

Against Price, Iglesias sits and Drew, a lefty against a lefty starter, starts.  Other lefties starting:  Ellsbury and Ortiz.  Lavarnway catching, no doubt to give Salty a break.

Heres the whole thing with an interesting statement that I highlighted...

"Xander's doing everything that he can to tell us when he's ready to come to the big leagues," Farrell said. "Whether that's this week or next month, that's still in the debate or in the conversation. But it's an exciting young player. We're all looking forward to the day he begins his career, not knowing when that's going to be.

"There's still some things that are a work in progress for him defensively. Any time you go up against more veteran and accomplished pitching, that's going to be another adjustments on his part. He's a pretty exciting player."

Apparently we could be seeing Bogey shortly after the trade deadline...

Two hard hit balls , I don't like the looks of this ! Price is capable of throwing a no no

Re: Game Thread 107: Rays at Red Sox

When the RS play the Rays, MLB is blacked out, so I have to watch the game on SunSportsSouth. Brian Anderson is the color man, and he never stops talking. He has picked up from the last game Price pitched against us.

Price, obviously, has decided thatvRS hitters do not like to make an out on the 1st pitch; they have the reputation of extending the count. So, he lays one down the middle for strike one, then thros on near, but outside, the strike zone; usually down.

Well we all saw this last week; will the Sox catch on? Have they already caught on, but can't bring themselves to believe how good that fast ball down the middle is? I think they will, and we'll get to Price about the 5inning.

I am so tired of losing to this Price guy that goes back to Game 7 of the 2008 Playoffs when the Rays used him in relief to save the game. One hit through 4 innings is not encouraging that we can finally figure the guy out.

I understand grinding out at bats but every hitter is falling behind 0-1 & 0-2. If he's throwing 1st pitch strikes get ready to hack.

We have one hit against this guy and its 2-0 already. We just have not figured this guy (Price) out in 5 years.

Maybe Ben figures that with the Rays Rotation we have no chance to beat them and that is why he is not going to make a deal and trade the Red Sox prospects. Price has thrown 52 pitches through 5 innings. At this rate he will probably complete the game as well and stay under 100 pitches.

Lets face it, the Rays have way better pitching than the Sox do... they essentially have 3 aces and the Sox have none... good pitching beats good hitting and its very clear that is true when the Sox play TB...

The ump blew that walk to the first hitter. That ball was right over the plate. Even Jerry Remy questioned it.

The Rays announcer said it was right down the middle too. Del La Torre then strikes out the top 3 hitters. I like him. Stuff and poise.
