Re: Game Thread 136: White Sox at Red Sox

I've been a heavy-duty Red Sox (and Braves) fan since 1932 (don't get out your slide rule; thats 81 years), and I have never seen anything even close to Uehara. Rivera is Rivera, Radatz and his 100 mph fasball was Radatz, Wacko Papelbon was very good (most of the time), but nobody, NOBODY, gets 3 out consistantly, with a 90 MPH fastball that moves abot 5 mm, and an 82 MPH sinker that waits until it's 6" from the plate befoe it decides to sink.

Mainly, of course, if Salty hels a 6" diameter saucer somewhere around home plate, he'd shatter it 4 out of 5 times.

Right now, I thinks Salty is our 2013 MVP, because he would be impossible to replace, and we would go nowhere without him. BUT, if Uehara carries this "Impossible Perfomance" thru the World Series, my emotional side would have to rethink that choice.

Yeah Victorino and actually Pedroia have been carrying the offense for awhile now... if this team doesnt get production out of Ortiz and Napoli really soon the sox are in trouble...we cant expect our starters to continually hold teams to 2 and 3 runs ...

For the record: its 10 games in a row now that we have held the opposition to three runs or fewer.

Ten games is too small a sample size to matter, really. But its encouraging. If we keep giving up three runs we will win a lot of games.
