Interesting match up.  Doubront have been tough on lefties especially against these Yankees's lefties.  But he need to figure out how to shut down Soriano, A-Rod, Reynold and Wells where they all hammered Doubront's last start against the NYY.  But the game is at NYY stadium at the same time Doubront is one of the better road starting pitcher of the staff.

So hopefully he can pitch his best game of the year which he need it or otherwise, he may not be on the post season starting pitching staff!!

Mariano is still a great closer, but anyone who has watched him pitch this year can see his stuff is just not as good as it was....still better than almost every other closer and amazing for a 40+ guy, but defintely not as much consistent bite on the cutter. I would still hate to have to beat him in a playoff game, but I am glad he has chosen to go out on top...he is such a class act....he deserves to be remembered for as Great as he was.

Don't understand Jeter batting #2 with a barely over .200 BA. He may come out of it tonight against Doubrount---I think Eck made that point last night.

A big win last night. Takes the edge off tonight's game. Not a very good pitching matchup tonight.  Doubront seems to be fading , and Pettitte will be tough , as always.

    Stabbed by Foulke.

    And the bad Doubr

This is definitely lookin like the bad Durbront... just when you think he is pitching with some consistency... he  pitches like this....cant find the strike zone and when he does he throws a meatball.... i believe he was bad his last outing as well....

seeing that hes over 150IP and his high is 161IP lest year, Its not surprising his numbers are not great his last 5 starts. Not completely terrible, but hes trending down.

    Last 5 games

26IP or about 5IP per outing

    30 Hits.

    17 Runs 9BB 21K

Hits are up, IP are down, K's are down, Runs are up

Its not a knock on him. I ve been calling it for about a month now. If he can get to 20-30 mor IP than last year, thats good. He appears to be starting to hit a wall though.
