The Tigers give up 20 to Sox, and the next game they pound 15 off the Royals in 7.

Thanks to 12 in this game, Sox continue to lead majors in total runs for the season, ahead of the Tigers.

Why Koji on a non save situation.  Save his arms for the playoffs.

I guess Farrell has little confidence with others in the pen.

We just took two from the Yankees that they thought they would win.  Two daggers to the heart.  Forty-one runs in three games.  You wonder what Lackey must be thinking.  How many runs will we score for him tomorrow?

After 41 runs in only 3 games, it would be a travesty to leave Lackey again without run support.  But Yankees pitching is very hittable.

Koji dispelling the myth that a closer loses focus in a non - save situation. A real pro who wants to nail down the win regardless. This team is just oozing confidence like Clearasil on prom night. How great would a sweep be?

Couldnt take the chance of letting the NYY come back, after we did. He's thrown a lot of inning but not a lot of pitches. 12 pitches, tonight

Even most NYY fans know who the better team is. The Carp AB in the 7th was key, and a microcosm of the Sox approach at the plate. Also, you don't see many Napoli critics today.

So I guess it will be Doubront coming out of the rotation when Bucholz starts ?

Kid needs more development time looks like.

Development time? No, Hes just hitting his innings that he had last year 161IP. Its normal to start hitting a bit of a wall.

That's what it looks like to me.  Unlike some of the other guys, he is not quite good enough to get away with being a little sloppy.

Well then Bucholz is returning just in time.  Time for Dubront to take it easy, he is now stretched to go the distance next year.

I was wondering if Farrell would consider just skipping one start apiece for everyone.  Dempster looks like he could use a few days off as well.

Doubront will be out of the rotation once the playoffs start. He won't make the roster. Dempster should be on the roster as a RP-he can at least throw strikes and is usually decent for several innings before he implodes. We will need a long RP for the playoffs, and Dempster or Workman could fill that role.
Last night's game was probably the final nail in the coffin of the NYY this year-not just because of the mathmatics of it, but because it had to be deflating to them. Its nice to be on this side of getting your butt kicked at the end of the year, finally.
