Aceves wanted to be a starter and the managment pushes him to be a closer. He is not into it and he may be intentionally not pitching well. I feel bad for Bobby-V because he was given a bunch of losers by the managment.

Really? The stupidity quotient on this board just went up 5 points.

No way Aceves is blowing games on purpose.  He simply does not have closer's stuff.

I do not have any proof but I bet anyone pushed to do a job that they are not interested this is the most likely outcome; s**t. Either you agree or not this guy is not going to be a good closer. He is capable to be good closer but he is just not intrested in the job.

so i think its safe to say that aceves is should not be the sox closer and at this point we either need to give melancon a shot or move bard to the pen and give him a shot. we should have won this gave already. now we are headed to extras cuz aceves gave up a 3 run bomb to m cab.

Had they given Aceves the starting nod he earned in spring training and put Bard in the pen, we could very well have 2 wins right now.

It takes a special kind of pitcher to consistently come in and get those last three outs. It is mental as much as physical. Not everyone can do it. Pretty obvious that Aceves cannot.

We will have to see how the Bard thing goes but I would not wait too long before swapping Aceves and Bard roles if things don't work out with Bard.  Just disappointing to lose a great closer, sign a great closer and still have no closer!

In the first game of this series , I mentioned that the Sox seldom win these sudden death situation games on the road. Sure enough the Tigers won it . Same feeling applies here. A Detroit walk off win seems almost inevitable. Just a question of how and when it will happen.

Well, if you get out of this inning at least you've split Jackson up from the batters following.
