Nice to see the BP looking good.  Padilla can be an effective 2-3 inning reliever it appears.  Frees up Aceves for the closing role.

Okay, what do you do? Stay with Padilla for the 9th , or go with the interim closer Aceves ?

I'd bring in Ace. You have to show confidence in your closer.

Unless the Sox score a bunch of runs, then it might not be Aceves.....

We will get an idea of how Bobby V. likes to manage.  He didn't use Melancon in the 8th. Padilla has looked good. Most managers would surely go to the closer.  But , Aceves is not Papelbon.

Agree that he pitched a great game today.  Hopefully, the Red Sox can win today.

I don't know about having Aviles bunt to bring up Shoppach. I thought Bobby would hit for Shoppach.

Why do you pitch out with men on 2nd and 3rd?

I wish we had a catcher that could actually hit the ball.

Not impressed by Shoppach's slow bat so far. Not at all.

There you go. Shoppach cannot hit right handed pitching.  Have to second guess Valentine on that move.

Nice Nick but stop sliding at first. Run through the bag. If sliding got you there faster they would be sliding at the end of the Olympic 100 meter dash.
