If we finish in the cellar again , does Ben keep his job ?

I don't mind finishing in the cellar again. In fact, I sort of expect it. I would judge Ben on his ability to fully commit to a strategy that is totally focused on 2015. If he cannot do that I would fire him in a heartbeat.

During the first half of 2010, Jonny Gomes was as clutch as they come in Cincinatti. You name it, he did it. He slipped a little in the second half of that year, and has done virtually nothing since.

That's why he fits in so well in the clubhouse.  We have a fine group of guys who do virtually nothing.

Salty and middlebrooks have been so predictable in big spots, weak contact if they make contact at all, looks like middlebrooks head is moving a lot when he swings, he's pulling off the plate and missing pitches to hit, and salty has such a big long swing, if he would shorten it up just a bit he might make a little better contact

Yankees win; Orioles win. Sox get HAMMERED. Off on a road trip now. We could easily reach our natural place in the world, a .500 club, by the time they get home.

i blame the SOX for going 20-8 and raising most of our expectations. i'm sure they won't do that again. how rude!

Or we could blame them for winning just two of their last 10. You choose.

Every team goes through periods like this. They will be fine.

LOL.  Thanks for the laugh "Red" as I needed it after our Red Sox are starting again to look like over paid, under achievers, with the exception of some as in Pedey who for one that actual care.  Guys like Els are playing only for good stats and the kell with the team.  Go Els.  Hope you have a great year and get a big fat contract from some sucker team.  go sox!

Well at least the Front Office put together a bunch of good club house guys. what do you expect for a guy (Dempster) who tops out at 89 MPH. Did anyone expect that to translate good in the American League with an extra hitter to face in the DH. Great pickups in Gomes and Victorino who will be lucky to hit 8 homeruns this year.

Before today, Ryan Dempster this season already had faced all four AL East opponents, surrendering only six earned runs in four starts (and eight earned runs in three starts against other American League foes).
