Farrell on Victorino: "We know we've got to give him some time ... whether that's every other day, every third day."

"Will's our third baseman," Boston manager John Farrell said. "We've said that. But yet at the same time, Jose is doing an excellent job. Once Will's returned and the roster decision is made, if the scenario is that Jose is our utility guy, we've got to be sure that we rotate him through there to keep him in the mix."

"We have to stay flexible," the manager said. "That's what internal competition is about. It drives everyone to be better. You don't want to stunt that. You don't want to take away from that or get in the way of it, really."

"We feel what's best for Will is best for us," Farrell said.

Shane Victorino-"We'll look to pick some spots for him," Farrell said. "That might be two on, one off -- that type of scenario. We're not stuck to that, either. Most of this is going to depend on how Shane responds."

"What I'm trying to avoid is that he's going to play two on, off one, but he may need to take the next one off without setting off any red flags or alarms," Farrell said. "We know we've got to give him some time in between a stretch of games -- whether that's every other day, every third day. That's what we're working off."

Mortensen and Morales weren't actually in the game, just saying.  And Miller threw 3 strikes, if you didn't notice.  Which doesn't sound like a lot, but he only pitched to one batter.

You picked some odd things to complain about.

Re: Game Thread 64: Angels at Red Sox

A lot of the problems that Dumpster was having is his inability to bend causing his pitches to rise. He's definately not throwing downhill at this point in time. The problem with the other guys are wide ranging, Morales was doing just fine until he intentionally walked a batter, at that point in time he lost home plate! Miller has always been an odd duck, one minute unhittable the next wilder than a young Sandy Koufax! As for Uehara for some unknown reason he was trying too paint with a 7 run lead, cripes just try and hit the power portion of the strike zone and let the fielders do their job. The great news is Salty started tatooing the ball, and The guy that can't hit for dookie Iggy keeps on hitting! I said this last year and I'll keep saying it play him and he'll save runs and he will hit around .250 at worst. I should have said .450!LOL
