Always tough for the hitter to guess with Bard. " Will he try to blow me away or drop the hook."  Hard to hit , even if you guess right.

Some interesting comments from the Seattle announcers about how well Pap is " hiding the ball."

    All right!!
Nice hitting, and solid relief work from Morales, Bard and Paps.
Lead back to two games ... three, really, when you consider the tiebreaker.

i dont see how lackey or wake are better than miller.
miller may walk more but allows less hits (in games he starts).
i dont think any of them are very much above the other (tho wake has one game in 3 hes great for 6 innings, one game in 3 hes bearable 3-5 runs, one game in 3 he gets destroyed).

    after bedard its a crapshoot.

lackey bases loaded in first 2 innings was it
10 hits 4 hits with runners in scoring position or 400 ( would love for the sox to just make 300 with risp.
only caught the 8th and 9th and highlights so far. got in late.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Game Thread: 8/12/11 Sox vs Mariners : Bard's pitching effort was one of great quality. The opposing hitter was unable to make contact on three of his pitches, despite making valiant and admirable attempts to do so. The Red Sox baseball club has thus far been fortunate enough to score two more runs than their victory challenged opponents this evening.

We saw a reverse Lackey tonight.  It seems lately he starts off strong and then falls apart, tonight he started off horible and then finished off strong.

Josh Reddick, I'm really starting to like him.  I was high on him a couple years ago and then I grew skeptical until now.  One thing to consider, is the confidence this kid is building right now.  Not only is he getting it done at the MLB level, but he is finally seeing his new approach at the plate pay dividends.

good to see the Sox lineup made of home grown talent - Ellsbury, Pedroia, Youk, Lowrie, Riddick - all contributing to this team reach top position in all meaningful batting records.  Having Papi, Gonzo, Crawford and Salty compliment is nice.
