Sox comeback was too little and too late again.   As I said earlier, they need to buck up and down some Red Bull, because the schedule ahead is a rough one. Plenty of travel and road games.  Things could go downhill .  Let's hope the day off tomorrow helps.

Sometimes I think Crawford is really turning into the Crawford of old and he swings at pitches that bounce in the dirt. I did not see the game but to leave Wakefield out there and let him give up 5 runs puts the offense in a hole for the sake of getting him his 200th win is rediculous. We needed this game with the Yankees winning yesterday and them being rained out today. Just plain poor.

Well, that was depressing and pathetic from beginning to end. Wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the Sox lose 2 out of 3 to Tampa Bay this week, and then comes the 8 game road trip. We're going into the tough part of the schedule, some momentum would have been nice. The Sox made the worst team in the AL look like Philly. Tampa, KC, Texas and NYY looming. Already lost as many in August as they did in July. Will probably be in another first place tie when they open Tuesday afternoon--if they can even play the games. Ugly series in Seattle.

this team does seem to roll over at times when behind...just playing to the level of the comp however

Lost 2 of 3  to what amounts to a good AAA ball club. Unconscionable!!! Theo and Terry better start worrying about the starting pitching. Not much there after Lester and Beckett.

You are right. This was not a very productive weekend.  Rays will be fighting for survival , then another flight out west without a day off.  Sox are going to have to play better baseball than we have seen this past week.

Theo and Terry better start worrying about the hitting dawg. I've been preaching this for a couple months. If this team doesn't win the WS, it'll most likely be because of the "league leading offense", not the pitching. For whatever sense it makes to say, this is one of the most inconsistent "top offenses" I've seen. And since the break, they've done little to re-enforce confidence.  Now comes Shields, Nieman, and Price---along with KC where they usually have trouble, and the all world hitting of Texas, then back home against NYY. If the Sox are still in first place on the evening of Sept. 1, I'll be a very happy camper because the road to there is going to be tough.

The Sox have actually been behind in their last 7 games in a row starting with the last Yankees game, and managed to win 4 of them.

Sox faced two good pitchers, last years Cy Young winner,  good young pitcher sox arent familiar with. Furbush kept them off balance thru seven innings, mixed his pitches well. 3-3 road trip, come from behind wins. Day off tomorrow. Home/Lester and Bedard Tuesday.

Everyone enjoy the rest of the weekend and day off tomorrow.

We come up short one run on Saturday and two runs today, watch Tuesday they will scpore 10, our offense struggles sometimes against bad teams like Minnesota and Seattle. We should have swept Minnesota on taken two of 3 against this team, rweally poor on our part.

Well jbay, I hope that's all it was. We'll soon find out. Maybe we'll get lucky and KC will knock off NYY Monday night.

Sorry , but I just don't buy into the spin.  Sox are a team with World Series aspirations. Charlie Furbush had an ERA of 4.46 coming in.  Sox have a top notch offense. Let's not be tipping our cap to Furbush.   Sox absolutely have got to step it up a notch in the coming days.

it's not spin gale, its baseball. the ups and downs of the season. you had wake going today, who kept them in the game, against a young pitcher the sox have only faced once. Furbush had a good game. M's also made some great defensive plays.  it happens. you can't win them all. you win some you shouldnt and visa versa. have to take the good with the bad

Seattle is weak MLB team that this season took two of three three-game series from a clearly superior team (although the Sox won the season series 5-4 on the strength of a sweep in one of the two series at Fenway Park).

    It happens.

Since their franchise-record 17-game losing streak, the Mariners are 9-7 against the likes of the Red Sox, Yankees, Rangers, Rays and Angels with a 25-man roster that includes 11 rookies. This weekend against Boston, the Seattle rookies produced: Mike Carp went 5-for-12 (.417) with 6 RBI, Casper Wells 3-for-7 (.429) with 1 HR and 4 RBI, Dustin Ackley 4-for-11 (.363) with 2 RBI and Charlie Furbush 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H and 6 K.

The Mariners have a long ways to go, but perhaps they're headed in the right direction.

Not sold on the starting pitching at all Lester and beckett. One bad one out of them we could be in  big trouble in the  playoffs.

i was at safeco today. it was a game where the breaks just went the mariners side. the sox actually was hit the ball on the nose. they just were not dropping for some reason. on the other hand that home run by wells (i think) did not even sound like it was hit solidly. it sounded more like it hit the end of the bat. of course a hr is a hr.

i think i will stop watching the sox at safeco. they have been 0-3 so far when i watch them there over the last three seasons. at least today my son was wearing his youk shirt and youk hit a hr.
