Salty caught game one.  he gets game 2 off unless their is an emergency.  This has been done forever and you want him to DH in game 2.  Then what happens tomorrow?

say what you want about Darnell, but he's a gamer...Defend CC all you want, but he's an All-Star...You're right, Darnell in a perfect world should never be even in the same sentence as CC...but see, CC is hitting worse than Darren Lewis in his last year with Sox.

We probably won't see it for the rest of the regular season, but my suspicion is that he may catch fire in the postseason. But either way, I think we'll see who we were expecting to see next season.

Nice HR by Varitek and I stand corrected that I have been critical of him hitting in certain situations. I am just a little concerned about Adrian Gonzo's lack of HR production going down the stretch. He could have less HRs than wiith San Diego last year. Love him as a ball player but I figured he would hit a ton of them (HRs) in Fenway this year.

jd, I don't think it would tax Salty to just DH. He's a younger player, and it's not the end of the world for a guy who plays game 1 behind dish, and it's a fast game too with double 3-hitters. I get what you're saying about what they do, but sometimes it's ok to vary from what they do if it means a game in the standings. That's just how I feel about it.

For some reason, people forget that being a DH doesn't require a lot of exertion of effort. It's 4 at bats, if you hit safely you run the bases. Not very taxing.

AL, paraphrasing Gonzo said if he hits a homerun great, but he doesn't try to hit them, if he did he wouldn't. when they come, they come.

Now that's not something you see every day.  In fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen that during a live baseball broadcast.

That is a good way to keep the pitch count down. Now , how about some momentum for the offense.

CC struck out his first at bat in both ends of a doubleheader? Can't he sit down for someone else to play?
