and big salaries bring big egos or vice versa or both, so tito has his hands full with this sqaud...but it would be nice to establish a more solid middle of the order, the bard transition to closer, and the whole mess of knowing that hardly any of the rotation is going to go much beyond 5 or maybe 6 innings.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Game thread: 8/6/11- Sabathia v. Lackey : McCarver comes across as a little self important sometimes. He was everywhere and saw everything in person, and absorbed more wisdom than anyone. But it's just there on the edge IMO, I can usually get past him, though sometimes he annoys me. Valentine is just plain weird to me, dunno.

Agree with both of you....Valentine drives me nuts....he's all over the place.

Wasn't that long ago that a poster (wish I remembered who) made a comment that Jacoby could get to 100 RBIs this year and Softy among other took the poster to task.  Doesn't look so far fetched now.

Shows how good he has been with runners in scoring position.  Obviously , the leadoff man does not get as many RBI opportunities as the other guys.

Well, in order to find him, we must leave the land of three dimensions and journey into the fairy land of softy's imagination where the laws of physics and logic do not apply, and no two lines intersect. We don't yet have the technology to fully explore that realm, we only look on it's ramifications and shudder, hoping it does not expand into our reality.

Question: Can Wheeler be trusted with a six run lead?

This one should be sealed, but it is Els in lead off, with 6 rbi's, 1 run scored.  No rbi's in the 3rd....4th.....5th.....6th spots in the red sox batting order.
