Farrell said there's "no script" for using Bailey in any particular situation. He's a middle reliever, plain and simple.

Bailey is healthy, so for now Farrell has to figure out how to use him, and the usual way is to send him in when the game is out of reach--for either team--or nearly so.

John Lackey's strikeout rate this season (20.9 percent) is the second-highest of his career. Only in 2006 (20.6 percent) was it higher.

John Lackey struck out four or fewer hitters in more than half of his starts in 2011. He's struck out four of the first six hitters today.

Lackey is looking great today.  He has really turned it around. In give him a lot of credit.  There shouldn't be anyone calling for his head anymore.  He tries and he wants to win.  Can't ask for more than that.

is it me or does it seem like Tazawa give up a home run almost every time he relieves?

He was excellent again.  I would only add that it was predictable and predicted by some that if his TJ surgery was successful he would return to his previous high performance.

Well, I guess that depends on how you mean 'almost every time'.  If you mean, over the body of his work this year, then yes, it is just you.  And you are way off base.  If you can't help but see recent struggles as 'almost every time he relieves', then, yes it might seem that way.
