I hope the Red Sox continue to distant themselves from the other four AL East teams.  Laughing

I hope Webster throws heat and nothing but heat tonight because I'm feeling sorry for the Jays, who badly need a bounce back win.

I am predicting a big start for Webster tonight....I think the way he settled down after the firt inning last game has him coming inot this game less nervous and if he gets out of the 1st unscathed tonight, he will trust in his stuff and give us a great chance to win

John Farrell didn't rule out using Koji Uehara for a third straight day. Uehara pitched on four straight days for Texas last September.

Farrell on why he'd be willing to pitch Uehara: "The last two outings have not been high-stress, even though they’re the ninth inning."

Webster can't hit Salty's glove to save his life. His stuff just moves all over the place.

If he learns to get a little more control on his fastball, this kid could be something else.

farell really screwed up big time and ended up screwing webster out of an inning ending dp, runners on first and 3rd bautista up, why are we playing a pull shift? thats just dumb, we need a dp, if we had the infield set up for the dp, webster would have been out of the inning, bautista hit it right to where pedoria normally would have been playing. easy double play. now 3 runs for the jays in the inning, webster still has a shot at a quality start which would be an upgrade for him, but farell really screwed up this time.

So we can't shift anymore because someone might hit the ball in a place where a fielder might've been, assuming the player is hitting there at random instead of on purpose?  Hopefully everyone takes the shift off of Papi because he will occasionally go the other way.

That's not what happened. Reyes was running on the play.  Pedroia went to cover second. Bautista hit it through the hole.

Going a little too far with Webster.

the point is that there was no reason to shift in that situation, had we kept the infield at double play depth, the ball bautista hit would have been right to pedroia for an easy inning ending dp

before the pitch was even thrown pedroia was playing almost right on the bag, even the annoucers mentioned that the sox were playing the pull shift for bautista.

It wasnt really the shift it wasnt it pedroia covering the bag on a steal?

Exactly and why would Petey cover that? there is no way Salty would even make that throw? just not a smart play and yeah it would have gotten Webster out of the inning
