Gotta like Doubront, I agree. But Pettitte has been known to rise to the occasion, plus he is a lefty in a year when the Sox have struggled against lefties.  I like our chances tonight and in the series, but have been very impressed with how the Yankees have squeezed out wins despite a depleted lineup.  Girardi is earning his pay.

I wouldnt say we have strugglled against lefties....we are middle of the league versus lefties....6 or 7th.....we just happen to be the best versus righties,  The Yankees on the other hand are near the bottom verusus both....we should win tonights game if a) Doubront continues to itch the way he has and b) Peitite doesnt rise to the occasion as yousaid.....I am alot more worried about b)...Petite has a way of pitching well versus the Sox

tomnev, if the Sox are 6th or 7th against lefties and overall have scored the most runs and have the highest OPS in MLB overall, it seems to me that, relatively speaking, they are in fact struggling against lefties.  Wouldn't you agree?

Bailey has labrum and capsule damage. Surgery seem likely. Regardless, probably out for the year.

I think my point is it is al relative....if for example they were also 6 th verus righties and 6th overall, they would be in the top half of the league versus both and ou couldnt say we are struggling.....we would just be better than average versus both....so the only reason we wcould say struggling versus lefties is because we are killing righties.....we are good enough versus lefties that with average ptiching by our pitchers we should win more than half those games.

Will soomeone please tell young Iglesius that just because Pedroia can get away with taking strike one, down the middle, every at bat, doesn't mean that he can. For almost every at-bat this month, the best pitches he has seen have been the first ones---90% strikes.
