Re: GAME THREAD: BEDARD VS BALT

THIS is beyond ridiculous. its 7:15 and i have to start my FIRST game thread ever? BEDARD got the first 1-2-3 in the first ever it seems. see if he can hold the second as well. this team will score first for the first time! here we go.. now we have momentum. now if we can just add aceves to the rotation, we are a lock for the playoffs. i will take becks-les-aceves-bedard-wake/miller (no more lackless or weiland please) ANYDAY going forward. buch can pitch the 7th or 6th inning (s),,

"Tonight on SportsCenter da da da.....da da da.....Orioles starter Rick VandenHurk gives the Red Sox 1 run in the first, and is perfect from then on--as Baltimore beats up on Eric Bedard in his return from a balky knee. Meanwhile in the bronx, the red hot Rays trim the Sox lead to 1! On SportsCenter--RIGHT NOW!!!!" Yell

Posted by royf19[/QUOTE]believe wake was on the mound going for 200... this team just needed a little karma to turn its fate arouund. been writing it nonstop.. hold the other team for THREE innings and give the offense the chance to swing with a lead.. this should hold. sox need another comfortable explosion to feel great about themselves again!

Great. Here we go. Almost every time we don't cash in, the other team does in the following inning.

Let's go Red Sox!  Let's go Red Sox! Baltimore Orioles (63-90) @ Boston Red Sox (88-66); VandenHurk 0-0, 6.00 vs Bedard 5-9, 3.50
Bedard is 1-2 with a 3.66 ERA with the Red Sox, with 32 strikeouts against 13 walks. Bedard is undefeated against his former team, going 3-0 against the Orioles after starting 111 games for the O’s in the first five seasons of his career. VandenHurk had 32 starts for the Marlins, and now his 3rd for the Orioles. In two relief appearances against the Red Sox, VandenHurk has given up one earned run in two innings. Adrian Gonzalez hit a home run off of VandenHurk when he was a Marlin.

    Boston Red Sox

    1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
    2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
    3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
    4. David Ortiz, DH
    5. Josh Reddick, RF
    6. Carl Crawford, CF
    7. Marco Scutaro, SS
    8. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C

    6. Adan Jones, CF
    7. Mark Reynolds, 1B
    8. Chris Davis, 3B
    9. Nolan Reimold, LF

    INJURY REPORT

Ellsbury has a 31-game hitting streak against the Baltimore Orioles, tying Hall-of-Famers Earl Averill and Jimmie Foxx, who each did that against the St. Louis Browns ( moved to Baltimore in 1954).

On September 20, 1919, Babe Ruth played his last games at Fenway Park as a member of the Boston Red Sox in a doubleheader. Ruth scored the winning run in each game.  And on September 20, 1988, Wade Boggs became the first player in the modern era to get 200 hits in six consecutive seasons.

Sox got some good swings off of this guy in the 1st. He was lucky to only give up one run.  We really could use a nice , easy , low stress win tonight. Is that too much to ask?
