It's amazing how bad pitching can demoralize an entire team.

Sox trailed first in 21 of 26 games this month. Every time they have a nice inninng and score runs, the pitching coughs up more runs runs in the next inning.

The Red Sox didn't quit on Francona. The horrible pitching just demoralized the entire team, and it affected the hitting and the fielding. There's nothing the position players or Francona can do when the pitchers keep gettin rocked.

I will say this again, as I have in previous games, I hate when Aceves comes in with guys on base.  He usually has some early control issues and then settles in nicely..  Hopefully he gets us out of this one on a smaller margin for error!

[QUOTE]What? Why the quick hook? He hasn't given up seven runs yet!! Tito, if you'd try such "radical" moves earlier in the year, along with trying to secure the wins as they present themselves in April and May (instead of saving people for September), we likely wouldn't be in this situation.

Maybe, but the trouble with that is, if he'd done that in April and May nobody in the pen would have arms. They'd all have fallen of by now.

What a crock. The Sox had the second- or third-best record in baseball at the end of August and on a 100-win pace.

The entire problem is the Sox pitching has STUNK this month. It has nothing to do with anything else.

Posters should come to the forum / gamethread knowing that Tek and Salty were injured and unable to play.  It is that simple.

Yeah, the pen's been a real strength in September by saving all of those bullets....Wins in April or May count the same as they do in September. There are no bonus points. You go for them as they present themselves.
