Gomes was rejected for a part in Sons of Anarchy because he looked too scary.

There is pathetic, and then there is this team. First and 2nd no out and both Napoli and aj strike out. Oh and we can't forget pedroia's base running error, could have taken 3rd but was not watching the 3rd base coach. How longer before a change is made? This team is not going to magically start producing runs consistently and actually win games. Major changes need to be made.

Felix Doubrount, Jackie Bradley Jr and a couple of others should have been part of a package for Stanton. Jackie Bradley cannot hit a lick and for all intense purposes never will hit. Management had to  have known that his hitting was suspect and should have traded him and made a better effort to keep Ellsbury last year before he went free agent.

I was on the record last year that this team did not have enough hitting and needed to do something before this season. I like Saltalamachia, but him and Napoli were absolute strikeout machines last year. This team seriously overachieved last year and Larry Luchinno figured they would do it again this year. Absolutely unbelievable.

This team is dead this year and is not coming back from the deficit they are in now. They are punch less and anemic and Luchinno is going to cheapen payroll and he is running the team, not Cherrington.

I just stumble away to read something about George Frazier and Mimsi Harbach, and when I stumble back the game is in the same excruciating situation as when I left  Wake up  Sox

Both JF and BenC have been put to sleep--Ben, trying to be Mr.Cool, when Rome is collapsing all around him.

Read about BenC's former GM-Theo on MLBTR.com--offering Samar. $100 M---sound familiar, Theo I can beat that offer to my guy--I'll really low ball Lester--maybe he'll bite?????????

JF refuses to do anything out of the ordinary. Ben do you think Drew is going to snap out of it? Tell Boras if he can make a deal so the Sox get a great, good, OF 'der then we are keeping Drew on the bench as a utility guy. You think you had trouble moving Drew when he was on a WS champ, wait until he sits on the bench the rest of the season.

Hey Drew's not the problem but Ben and John must be in La, La, land. Have you noticed "Deer in the headlights " look as the game begins to slip away. Let Ben Scout, Move JF to GM and Torry as the Mgr.

Brock Holt with a nice diving catch in RF. Until a few days ago his only experience with right field was occasionally walking through it.

Watching the game with the Oakland feed. Impressed with the A's announcers. They are knowledgable , no nonsense, fair and easy to listen to. They know a lot about the Sox and all of baseball. They are doing a fine job.

Tough loss. A game we really needed to win against a nobody like Mills. After he left, we could do nothing with the A's pen. Could our guys have looked any more overmatched against Doolittle?  It is getting harder and harder to see any chance of turning this season around. Just to make it a little more painful, the Yankees are heating up. Things are not looking too good right now. Over and out.

Ortiz said it best not long ago: "WE STINK". Not even mediocre. Stinky. Cherries needs to go all on with a rebuilding program or he has his head in the sand.

Actually, this SOX team is dead on land and sea. Tampa's gonna make it tuff for the SOX to finish last, but I have confidence that among the team, the manager, and the FO, last place can definitely be accomplished. Never under estimate how bad this team really is. And please, please make Doubront disappear, although achieving last place would be easier with him still in the rotation. He's the worst.

Actually, DGALE, the SOX matched Oakland with a nobody like Doubront. So, this game saw a couple of nobodies matched up against each other. The dollar nobody and the overpriced nobody were pretty much even in their performance.

Frustration continues, with no end in sight.  This poor batting lineup is starting look like a season long streak, incapable of breaking out.  Must be a culmination of losses like Ellsbury, Youkilus, Manny etc, and adds like JBJ, Drew etc, and the fading of Papi.  Needs a total rebuild of this lineup around a strong pair like the old Papi and Manny in the middle of the lineup.  Better to use the rest of the season for this than to keep wasting away with the current lineup.  Sox have to eat the $10 million Drew signing and either trade him or just designate him.  I think Papi is done this year, thanks for all the heroic contributions Big Papi, time to walk into the sunset.

1st time this year got the “we know it’s not happening” feeling out the #RedSox clubhouse. Not much finger-pointing but loads of frustration

Friday was the 10th time in 12 games #RedSox were held to 3 or fewer runs. On pace to score 233 fewer than last year.

Re: Gamethread Friday 10:10 Red Sox @ Oakland

Maybe try a lineup without Ortiz, Nap, JBJ and Drew in it. Let them be the reserves. If you get 19 runners on it may force JF to manage and play some small ball. That's actually funny --put $40 M, the Astros Team Payroll, on the bench for a few games to see if it matters.

Is this the time to either bring in a Batting Coach like Rich Gedman to work with "Falling" stars or with JBJ and Xander OR send both, JBJ & Xander, to AA or AAA to see if they can find their swings and to remind them how close to obscurity they are?

There is nothing wrong with a shock to the system---a slight detour never sidetracked anyone with talent . Doc Halladay was demoted all the way down to A ball and rebuilt himself. You get  a lot of bus time to think about how much you miss being catered to, the nice hotels, the nice planes, the meal and expense money. Time may be what some people need?
