Stat of the Day: Brock Holt is hitting .194 with a .514 OPS since the All-Star break. He was hitting .327 with an .834 OPS prior. His batting average on balls in play is .260 since the break. It was at an unsustainable .395 before.

Heard speculation that they may be playing Xander at SS  to create interest in Xander at SS to move him in a trade in the off season. Seems logical, forcing the issue.  That may be the reason they aren't demoting him and JBJ even with their terrible strike out % age and poor contact % age at the plate.

I am still in favor of moving Xander to LF.

I don't understand the lovelfest with Nava--we know what we have with him ---JF has no clue what he may have with Corey Brown who is a natural CF'der and Betts could move to RF.

If I'm the manager I need to see WMB everyday and you have a spot for Holt at SS--sitting Xander.

If we need a relief pitcher tonight I hope we get a chance to see Heath Hembree instead of Taz who looks a little worn out.

Too bad Lackey wasn't scheduled this evening. It would have made this edge of your seat game even more exciting.

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but last night's loss made it mathematically impossible for the SOX to win 100 games this year.

Btw, on the good news front, there are many other crappy teams in the MLB this year. Many.

Middlebrooks should play and Nava should not.

Wish Ben would waive Nava and trade him.  He is not going to be on the team next year.

    Take Nava away from Farrell.

    Defense.  It is still important.

I'd like to see Holt. The only thing of interest on this crap team is to see if Holt plays all 9 positions.

With Ortiz not playing tonight, the Cards' manager told his pitcher "Be careful pitching to Kelly, don't let him beat you."

Holt has become vulneradle to the "high hard one"; especially when he has two strike on him. I think he knows it; got one the other night and, unfortunately, lined out to LF. IMHO (?) he needs to take advantage of 1st pitch strikes that are hittable. (That means, not necessarily down the middle, but close.) Watch tonight and see if they don't pitch him up and away when they've got 2 strikes on him. They win tonight, 7-3.

    [/QUOTE]

Holt has to be a super utility guy next year, not a starter.
