In Response to Re: Give Theo Credit:In Response to Re: Give Theo Credit : more and more, the media says things just to stir the pot. you know the saying about not believing what you read in the newspapers. in the entertainment business, it is moreso. didn't you think it unwise to ignore the phils? i did think that these predictions were foolish with the sox because 3 of the 4 starting infielders were coming off serious surgery. and i never bought that the pitching staff was the best in the division (people have talked for 2 years about TB's staff). crawford was a ? though i had no reason to think he would be this bad. and i didn't get vmart and beltre being let go. but, if all things went well and no one underperformed, i thought they would do well. but there are a lot of teams that would do well if no one underperformed. so there you have it. i have a feeling, the sox still make the playoffs. yanks management layed down one game for the sox and one game for TB. i expect girardi to play it like it mattered for the next two games.
Posted by bhonestNobody ignored the Phillies. Everyone had the Sox playing the Phillies in the World Series. The media stirred it and the Red Sox fans were just as excited with all the Red Sox talent...now the talent has underperformed and everyone blames Theo? How does that make sense? As for Beltre and VMART, they were let go because of AGON, you know the guy that this board has been clamoring for Theo to acquire for the last three years. My point is everyone is an expert now. "Theo should have done this, he should have never signed Crawford or Lackey..etc" but yet in March 95% of the people who are Red Sox fans LOVED the roster...now 95% of the Red Sox fans blame Theo. That is what I can't stand -

In Response to Give Theo Credit:I know I am just a Theo bootlicker but since so many bash Theo for the moves he makes...how about the move Theo didn't make that so many wanted him to make...the move of trading Ellsbury in the offseason. Theo stood behind him and it is paying off. Keep this in mind as many of you are demanding Theo trade Crawford in the offseason...that won't happen...and once again it will prove to be beneficial to the Red Sox

Are you Theo's mother, wife, cousin, sister?????
You've got to be, to make 3,000 posts a day with such
passionate defense of someone who needs to share the blame for this debacle. -

Posted by tbrodExactly. Anyone still defending Blunder really has a very limited knowledge of the game. Most ten year olds can see what has been trending since he was given autonomy. At the very least Henry needs to take the keys back from him. And that won't sit well. So let him take himself and his incompetent ego elsewhere and screw up aome other franchise. -

Posted by tbrodDo you really want to go at it with me again? I had you in tears yesterday because you could dish out the personal stuff but when thrown back at you it was a different story "don't judge me"...just go away with your feeble mind before I throw another analogy at you that will go over your head -

Posted by greenapplesplattersyet none of you can answer my question...if you were all saying this in March that would be one thing...none of you were though. 95% of you felt on paper this team was loaded...that is the GM's job...now that talent on paper has underperformed you blame Theo. All of you suffer from the 20/20 genius syndrome. -

I see
seeing how the fans & press were wrong in march
how can anyone blame the '' professional ''
thing they were right in march
but theo didn't adjust enough after loosing Dmatt & buch' -

Posted by futbalGreat question. Only the Padres and Theo know that for sure. Publicly Theo stood behind Ells but he has to especially if he is trying to trade him. I doubt the Padres would want Ellsbury just because he is a Boras client and he is too close to becoming a free agent. It would not make sense for them. -

Posted by pinstripezac32What pitcher's were out there for Theo to get after Buch and Dice went down? Keep in mind the Yankee rotation could use an upgrade...it is why they went after Lee so hard in the offseason...not even the Yankees made a move because there wasn't a pitcher available who would be worth it -

Posted by jackbuReally? So the majority of the fans want Ellsbury gone, the GM keeps him and Ellsbury has a great year yet Theo doesn't get credit for that. Hmmmm...if he would have gotten rid of him and Ellsbury was having this kind of year for another team I bet we would hear about it...amazing how that works. All of you have it in your mind that he can do nothing right. You blame him for everything yet give him no credit for the moves he has made or didnt make..classic -

In Response to Re: Give Theo Credit:Nice fiction, Mrs Epstein. You must think by making multiple posts about something ad nauseaum, that you're overwhelming everyone with your pap. You're a strident fool, who is here for the sole purpose of enabling your husband's destruction of this team. Bet you have a picture of Theo in your bathroom, too. 2-4, eh? Is "The Pesky Pole" one of your sexual fantasies, Mrs. E?
Posted by tbrodI can cut and paste if you want....great personal attacks though...now going the sexual route. Classic. Sometimes it is better to admit when you are wrong..like yesterday...you could have simply said "sorry about calling you names...now I see I misread what you wrote"...it happens..instead you just continued, embarrassing yourself more and more...and now you have gone to the next level of personal attacks...talking about sexual fantasies. You have really unraveled. Better think up a new nickname for the site. -

Furbush ? that's not for me or fans to figure out,
he's the paid '' genius ''
not even the Yankees made a move because there wasn't a pitcher available who would be worth it
that's true
but the difference is the yanks were looking for someone
better than what colon & garcia were giving them
the sox needed someone better than miller &Weiland
besides since when is comparing him to Bcash a compliment in RSN -

Red Sox Notes: Buchholz, Gonzalez, Ellsbury, Okajima
Here's the latest on the Red Sox, including some continued fallout from the blockbuster Adrian Gonzalez deal...
- Felix Doubront, Jed Lowrie, and Jacoby Ellsbury's names were all discussed in the Boston/San Diego trade talks, says John Tomase of the Boston Herald. Ellsbury was the only one that drew much interest from the Padres, but they decided against him since Ellsbury's forthcoming arbitration raise would make him too expensive and a trade candidate himself in the near future.
- Also from Tomase, both Chicago teams were "finalists" for Gonzalez and were offering at least one major league player in their trade packages. Ultimately, San Diego decided that it preferred the prospects in Boston's offer.

I can just picture you in a locker room or dojo, when the ball busting starts. Too bad you're so thin skinned that you can't tell, it's all tongue in cheek. I don't know you and I'm having some fun with you.

To the OP...You do know that by Theo signing Crawful for the $142 mil, he has all but guaranteed that Ellsbury will sign elsewhere.
Can't afford both -

Posted by KRomineThat remains to be seen...Ellsbury is a Boras client which will make things very difficult especially since there will be no buying out arbitration years/extensions during his contract. Boras will have him wait until free agency and go to the highest bidder -

Umm, you just going to ignore the reporting that Theo offered Ells but the Padres said no? Sometimes it's good enought just to be lucky. -
Re: Give Theo Credit

Now that I agree with.
When was the last time a Boras client didn't go to free agency, besides Weaver?
Boras squeezes the last dollar out of a team, and the process usually drags on forever. -

The Crawford signing is a mistake but only because of how well Ellsbury did this year. There was no way to predict Ellsbury would have this kind of year. Last year, everyone was questioning his heart.
Even if Crawford becomes what they hope he can become, it's still a mistake because they don't need him - they have Ellsbury.
They could have signed Vlad Guerrero - his knees are good enough for LF at fenway for a fraction of the cost. -

We are experiencing a collapse of monumental proportions. Doesn't someone have to be held accountable or does everyone get free passes cause we've won 2 titles in the past decade?
