"Go ahead, make my day!" so, he did!

Ryan Dempster not only made Alex's day, he made the day for the entire State of New York! Of course, he should have been tossed; things would have turned out much differently. If the RS miss out on the playoffs this year by one game, we can lay 90% of it on Dempster and the other 10 on Farrell. That exhibition of nonsense that Farrell laid on us after the game, ("the pitch just got away from him") business was an insult to every listener's intelligense, and was not appreciated.

We don't know what role Farrell played in this horror story, but he sure at least KNEW. Nobody had to tell him, he had to KNOW at least instinctively.

Without Napoli messing thinmgs up, both the LH and RH lineups, he's put on the field have been the best of the year. Too bad he's screwing things up with vindictive and harmful actions like this.

I certainly did not expect Farrell to reply in this manner:

"Well, listen guys, you know it freakin' A-Rod right?...I mean seriously, even his teammates hate him , Cashman surely does. So, we figure , you know, bean him. His teammates , so we figured, would just love it. They would be laughing their @sses off in the dugout. Hell, we thought maybe C.C. would continue throwing batting practice for us and let us win by 10 runs!!!!, Girardi would then send the batboy in to pinch run for Alex, we get his @ss off the field, everybody's happy?...right???...we sure did not expect Girardi to stampede out on the field, we didn't expect a Yankee team to rally around their most embarrassing player...so , it's my fault, I told Ryan to take him out....I screwed up, what can you say?"

OP is dead right.  Managers who don't tell the whole truth should as a minimum be fined and suspended.  Fibbing is worse than and more corrosive to MLB than PED's.   John Henry or Bud Selig needs to step in and fix this very real problem of untruthful managers.

"It was disappointing because I had instructed Ryan to hit A-rod in the head.  After the game, on our way to the airport we picked up some escorts to accompany us on the long flight to the left coast.  I figured while I was chiding Ryan and the rest of the boys for losing 2 out of 3 to the yankees, we can at least get rub and tugs.  I mean, it's obvious that while on the road we pretty much all cheat on our wives so I figure why not?"

I would expect since the OP has been watching the Sox longer than Ive been alive he would understand that a manager cant admit he did it on purpose or players will be suspended and fined. Dempster may already get as fine or suspension, but its common knowledge that you dont admit it.

Look no further than Cole Hammels. In 2012, he beaned Harper and then admitted to it post game. He got suspended.

But, you don't have to blatantly lie. What's wrong with, "I don't know"?
