Good-bye to my good friends on Red Sox:On the front burner

Since this is the last day, I wanted to say good-bye. I would like to thank all of you for your words of encouragement after my Celtics lost to the Heat. Your Red Sox last night took possession of 2nd place in the AL East as my Yankees lost to the Mets and fell to 3rd place in the division.

So far the world seems unchanged.

I guess it's not much different on the other side after all.

I was hoping for something better.

When is the next scheduled "end of the world" supposed to happen?

It isn't all going to end today, according to the 89 year old "prophet"  it will happen over the next 5 months culminating on October 21st.  That is if you believe in it!

Sorry antibody, I bounce back and forth from music to Red Sox.

Sometimes I spend more time on one board than on the other.

In between all that, I have work to do.

Also, it seems as if my 'RESPOND TO' tab doesn't always appear.

    I wasn't ignoring you.

I'll go back and answer you twice just to prove my heart is in the right place. Also, I am being extra nice , just in case this RAPTURE thing is for real.

What is it with posters feeling the need to announce their leave from the forum?  Reminds me of Roger Clemens annual retirement act.

Terry Francona Not Ready for End of the World, But Would Be Glad to Go Out a Winner

Over the course of a season as the manager of the Boston Red Sox, the thought of Armageddon probably seems like an upgrade over going to the office. Terry Francona says that right now is not one of those times.

Francona was asked about the theories that some believe that say the world will end on Saturday, and what it would mean to him have the world end after a win after the Sox beat the Cubs on Friday night.

"I gotta tell you, if it ends tomorrow, I'm not gonna be that happy," Francona said with a laugh. "I'm glad we won, but I'd prefer it not to end."

Make sure to take this end-of-the-world playlist with you
    Photo
    Boston Herald:

The end of the world starts today — at least that’s what some Christian fringe groups have predicted on billboards throughout town. Just to be prepared (or amused), you might want to stock your iPod with these classic tunes about death, destruction and finality.

    1. “The End,” The Doors (1967)

Francis Ford Coppola made this the key song of his “Apocalypse Now.” Enough said.

    2. “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” Blue Oyster Cult (1976)

Is there a better way to go than by having millions chant, “I gotta have more cowbell, baby”?

    3. “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald,” Gordon Lightfoot (1976)

A nearly seven-minute account of a ship sinking on Lake Superior, killing 29 aboard. The bleakest song to ever reach No. 2 on the Billboard charts.

    4. “Eve of Destruction,” Barry McGuire (1965)

    The title says it all.

    5. “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine),” R.E.M. (1987)

    Ditto.

    6. “The Great Gig in the Sky,” Pink Floyd (1973)

Beginning with Richard Wright’s somber piano chord sequence, and underscored by monologues about death (“No, I’m not afraid of dying, anytime will do”), this tune ascends to the heavens thanks to Doris Troy’s powerful gospel wail.

    7. “Dust in the Wind,” Kansas (1977)

Get those lighters up in the air.

    8. “Enter Sandman,” Metallica (1991)

“We’re off to never-never land.” Extra points for inclusion of the prayer “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep” midway through.

    9. “There is a Light That Never Goes Out,” the Smiths (1986)

Never have double-decker bus and 10-ton truck crashes sounded so poetic.

    10. TIE: “1999,” Prince (1982) and “Till the World Ends,” Britney Spears (2011)

His Royal Badness proclaimed it was Judgment Day nearly 30 years ago, but, man, it sure made us feel like dancing. Britney picks up the apocalyptic boogie torch where Prince left off
