Re: Good To See The McClure Firing Inspire the Troops

Clay Buchholz went to pieces tonight. Coincidence? Or just another example of why the Sox are a terrible team that gets worse each game. Firing McClure might have been great for BV, but it sure wasn't great for Clay. You can tell he wasn't right, probably got all turned around from his regimen by the new pitching coach. This is beyond ridiculous by the way. Why BV isn't fired is still an alltime mystery. Clearly the team has given up and it's going to go into a further tailspin. All they had to do was change the manager, admit the mistake, and I think this squad would have at least battled. Not anymore.

    Bell,

You must be the only RS fan alive still defending BV.  Have you been watching?  What about those of us who liked Tito, but thought he had to go.  He lost control of the team, & had to go.  BV was never given a chance to succeed, but he is still a joke, and a complete embarrassment.  The guy sticks his foot in his mouth every other sentence, & worse!!!   NOBODY's following his "lead!"

Seriously!  What is it you don't get about this?

Again...  for the 9,000th time...  Yes!  The players are 90% to blame.  owners & mgmt 5%.  Bobby 5%.  Still, even with his 5% "leadership." game mgmt, comm., the guy has been a complete failure!  There is no question about it!

Get over it!  The guy is gone the day after the season, so chill...

    :)  Done!

Have the Sox even won 2 in a row since the Vote of Confidence? How bout none in a row? Since the McClure firing, McClure's best pupil falls apart and the No. 6 starter pitches like why he was a journeyman prior to the Sox picking him up. BV needs to be fired. But let him finish out the year, see the team 15 games under .500 and everyone castrate the players, LL, BC, and JH and TW...but leave the poor manager alone--the clown who now says, "I'm not going to tell you..."....another brilliant quip from Bobby Valosstine.

How bad would it have been had he been fired 2 months ago? At least they would have found out if the change in leadership might have lit a fire into Beckett, Pedroia, and the others who obviously do not respond to BV's managerial style.

I don't think Bobby V is the manager this team needs, but he is not at the root of it's problems.  He can't go out and pitch, he can't go out and hit and he certainly didn't put a ski mask on and pull a Nancy Kerigan on all the injured players.   When your supposed #1 and #2 starters can barely compile 10 wins by this point in the season you have a problem.  Virtually every player on this team has underperformed....there is only so much you can do when that happens.

This isn't a ONE year fix unfortunately.

[QUOTE]The guy is an alltime joke. Maybe at one time he was a decent manager, but not anymore. And it's showing on a daily basis just how far he can go to not get fired. He can say whatever wants about the organization and still keep his job, I find that in itself fascinating.

I suppose you hope the Sox keep on losing so Valentine will lose his job

No, Alibi, I was hoping he would be fired...SO THE SOX MIGHT ATTEMPT TO WIN. HIS LOSING IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU THINK INSIDE THE BOX OR PUT PERSONAL FEELINGS BY LL OVER WHAT HIS BEST FOR THE TEAM, NOT THE MANAGER. INSTEAD, WE HAVE LET'S CATER TO THE MANAGER, FIRE THE PITCHING COACH, AND GIVE HIM A VOTE OF CONFIDENCE...HOW'S THAT WORKING OUT SINCE IT HAPPENED? THE TEAM NATURALLY GOT WORSE.

I've seen the alternative to not firing him....more games under .500

So when does he got canned? 15 games under? 10 games under? 20? What will it take for the Sox to fire the Vote of Confidence guy.

Actually, what will it take for fans to realize he's a Clown Car as a manager? On this board, it seems like never.

Re: Good To See The McClure Firing Inspire the Troops

Bobby V has managed 15 years before this one, and 10 of them were winning seasons--irrefutable proof he is competent.   Francona managed for four losing seasons in Philly, then caught lightning in a bottle with the Sox job, where he had 8 winning seasons out of 8 and two WS.  The players do make a difference.

You don't fire Bobby during a season in which injuries have affected every position except C, SS, and 1B and when the big three starters have ERA's of 4.47, 5.03, and 5.23.  Ellsbury, last year's AL non-pitcher MVP, has disappeared, first missing half the season, then riding an OPS of .643.   CC played basically one of six months.  Ortiz has missed 30 games.  Middlebrooks missing half the season.  Last year's bullpen stalwarts, Pap and Bard, gone because of decisions above Bobby V's paygrade.

Re: Good To See The McClure Firing Inspire the Troops

Dannycater right now is the evil twin of bosox1941 in 2011 when he bashed Francona repeatedly.

Dannycater delusionally believes, just as bosox1941 believed, the manager and the manager alone is responsible for all wins and losses.  Change the manager, and the Sox will win out and win the WS or win 7 in a row or whatever.

Meanwhile we are watching the pitching staff once again give up a ton of runs, all of which are Bobby V's responsibility because he didn't communicate well enough with Morales and/or Lavarnway--or Mortensen or anyone who didn't get a hit with RISP or maybe Ciriaco who made the error.
