Not surprised. Playing time has diminished quite a bit.  If he were hitting the ball hard, it would be one thing but he isn't.

This is probably the first leg of several roster moves revolving around Workman's suspension and Victorino's return.

Agree slasher, but the truth is he's not been any different stat wise than he was his last 2 years in Cleveland and there was no sign it was changing at all.

Sounds like Red Sox have Cecchini in Boston in case they need him. Could swap him in for a few days.

Agree. This was obvious. Mujica should go once Buch or Doubront is ready. Shove them to bullpen.

Doubront will slide back into the rotation in De La Rosa's spot.  Rubby has shown flashes.  However, he still needs to get a little more confident in that fastball and more importantly consistent in commanding it in the strike zone.  It would behoove him to work on that glove thing Sutcliffe picked up last week as well.

Sizemore was just a victim of the numbers game. That's what happens when you have TOO much outfield talent. We are simply loaded.

Cecchini is thought to be somewhat deficient on defense. However, you have to be impressed with his .263  B.A.---2 Home runs---- .673 OPS at Pawtucket.  Stellar.

He made a good run at his comeback. Maybe he will get a shot with another team. I wish him well, but am glad someone else will get a shot in our OF.

The 213 AB sample size is significant at Pawtucket, and his .344 OBP is not bad, but his SLG is just .329..

His OBP had been over .394 for 3 straight years before 2014. He's also a good base runner.

He should get a long look at some point... maybe in LF some day (or 1B after Naps leaves).

Grady's demise as a ballplayer was substantial. Sad to see him done after really 4 great MLB years with a so-so 5th. Not even 32 years old...Sad.

Just a temporary assignment for Cecchini who will be sent back when Victorino returns or even sooner.

    Re: Grady DFA'd

Problem with incentive-laden contracts are that they are always pro-team. A player has to bank on their abilities and if they slump, like Grady did....they are done. I remember when Wakefield was left to die in the bullpen one year because the Sox didn't want him to reach a certain number of starts/innings. Fair or not, Baseball can be brutal on people.
