He has a new software program and they want to show it off; either that or they are just excited as all of us about Big Papi's resurgence.

    Another 3 run blast.

I found it fascinating that between 2000-2006 his home run totals increased each and every year and then after a two year decline, he has again increased his totals every year.

2011 is turning out to be the 3rd best year of his career.

The second spike is only dramatic because of 2008, when Papi missed like 50 games, otherwise it would be very steady the past 4 years.

Hitting behind Adrian seems to be doing for Papi what hitting in front of Manny did for him.

Re: Graphing Big Papi's HR totals for 2000-2011

    AB/HR starting in 2000:

    2000: 41.5
    2001: 16.83
    2002: 20.6
Signed by Boston (new home park)
    2003: 14.45
    2004: 14.2
    2005: 12.79
    2006: 10.33
    2007: 15.69
    2008: 18.09
    2009: 22.39
    2010: 16.19
    2011: 14.44

Not as pretty as your graphs, but here's the meaningful data.  The increase in power only started last year and could easily be attributed to his knee finally being healthy heading into last season.  This year has small sample size written all over it, but a large factor is the number of fastballs he has been seeing.  He leads the league in HR's off of fastballs.  That's what happens when you get people on base.
