GREAT ACEVES STORY: HE'S THE NEXT BILL LEE, ARROYO+TAVARES!

THIS is a great piece on aceves. seems like a total free spirit. a great clubhouse guy. we better give him a 3 year deal. he's a great all purpose pitcher. aceves could be an accoplished musician in the mode of a bernie williams. cant believe the yanks let him go.

I hope his fate with the Sox is kinder.
    Lee/Arroyo tenure didn't end well.

Wastefield has dibs on the role perfectly suited for Aceves. Wastefield was sharp as tack, walking 5 people with a wild pitch against a lethal Tampa offense. No doubt he'll joing Tek in next years geriatrics roster spot, sponsored by Geritol.

5 Walks and a wild pitch and a big loss. Suck it up and get some lapband surgery, Shields embarrassed you, and the Tampa offense is one of the worst in baseball.

What big loss? You don't win if you don't score. Shields embarrassed nobody.
He came into the game with a 2.85 ERA.
Wake gave his team every chance to win.

God forbid you should ever give someone you despise any credit.

    Wake since re-joining the SR:  32 IP  25 H  13 ER  3.65 ERA
Wanna compare this to the other 5 starters' last 5 outings?
    I didn't think so.

You claimed it was all about wins. He was waxed! 5 walks and a wild pitch was smoke and mirrors. Wastefield is on fumes, even though he's pampered like Lowrie with a lot of down time. Everytime Wastefield pitches, that's time away from young profiles who can develop valuable experience.

You don't win games with 0 runs scored.

You win games by holding a team scoreless and not blinking first. Wastefield blinked a lot.

How many shutouts have RedSox pitchers hurled this year?

He could have walked 10. Who cares? What matters is how many runs were allowed. Just what are your expectations for a spot starter? How many spot starters hurl shutouts?

How often did you whine when Dice walked 5? What it comes down to is how they work out of jams.
Now, if Dice had been able to answer the bell...

Posted by betterredthandead[/QUOTE]dude u come across as a bitter hater! wake is very valuable. he can pitch til 60 if he keeps performing as he has! what the heck do we care. as it stands now, andrew miller will likely come and get a shot in the rotation at wake's expense. if he performs, y not? u still keep wake in the bullpen or you dl him as miller auditions. miller is throwing it at 97 with better control of his breaking stuff.

The current plan is to keep Wake in the rotation.
Sooner or later, someone will pitch himself out of the SR.
    That's how it should be.

2 runs allowed, only because the missles were hit to the track and at people. Tampa exuded confidence when they saw Wastefield, which is the same for any MLB team.

I like Aceves, the guy has helped solidify our pen and done pretty well as a whole.  Jenks and Wheeler may not have been the best moves we ever made but that remains to be seen.

?  Arroyo didn't end badly.  they just dealt him in a bad deal.  But it wasn't like there was hard feelings or any of the darkness that surrounded Lee's exit.

He has been asked Zac. he said at the time he knew when he gave the hometown discount to stay in Boston, there was a chance he could be traded. He said he asked epstein directly if he had plans to trade him before he signed, theo said not at the time but was honest that it was a possiblity. He said he took the chance to stay where he wanted to be, understood it's a business, had no hard feelings and was happy to be still pitching in the majors. Arroyo still performs every year in theo epsteins concert charity to be named later.
