We just do not have the pitching!

ok, i'm just going to take a wild stab in the dark and guess, given the circumstances, most would rather be the team that's 7.5 up

Chock me up as being nuts.  Chock full O' NUTS!

Lackey >  Still pitching like a SOLID # 2, ALL YEAR LONG

Lester >  Looks to be turning a corner?  His stuff is looking better!  SOLID # 2 stuff

Peavy > Way too amped up last start!  He has great #2 stuff!

Dubby >  Has pitched like a solid #2 / #3 starter ALL YEAR LONG.  Getting tired & NEEDS SOME REST (Workman needs some spot starts)

Dempster >  NEEDS A REST!  Injury?  Suspension??  Whatever!

Buch >  Will return soon, & come up big down the stretch!  #1 :)  Let's pray he comes back close to where he left off!!!!

YES!  We more than have the pitching to play .550 ball down the stretch, finishing with 93 - 95 wins, taking the ALE outright!  We still have the hitting if guys start stepping up.  Yes!  the hitting has been pretty hot & cold (more cold as of late), but the boys will not quit, & the bats will be there.

    Ells >  Solid

    Vic >  Solid

    Nava >  Solid

Middy >  Much more disciplined, & I look forward to him adding back the pop!

Drew >  Heating up?  PLUS Boggie :)  :)

Pedey >  Will heat back up & add some pop

Naps?  Strike out machine, but will add pop

Carp >  Been a great addition & help for Naps  :)

Gomes & Co. >  Clutch off the bench!

Yes!  WE HAVE THE PITCHING!!!!!   We've also got the bats

Look to sweep the west coast & Baltimore :)

Sweeping might be too much to expect, but I expect the Sox to battle to the end this year. I think with some fan, they have such a knee-jerk attitude when it comes to pitching that whenever a pitcher has an off day or there's a little blip that's where they go.

People see Doubrant struggling but he's pitching like Lester in June and Lester is pitching like Doubrant in June. The two have switched. Lackey and Peavy are strong. Dempster needs to step it up until Buchholz is ready.

As for the hitting -- that stretch where the Sox couldn't buy a hit with runners on base was disturbing. And one hit with the bases loaded (I believe) when it was 6-3 against the Yankees might have put the game away.

But the Sox have a team that keeps putting runners on base, so hopefully it starts balancing out and more hits start coming again with guys on base.

If Middlebrooks continues like he's been hitting, he could be the big RH bat the lineup has been looking for. Hopefully, the time off will get Napoli back on track.

I'm not sure the SOX could be defined as chocking or choking. This team has overachieved all year; now they're playing in accordance with their talent or lack there of. That this team was actually 20+ games over .500 was absolutely amazing. That won't happen again this year. My prediction: by the end of the season their won/lost will be 86-76.

so you predict they will go 12-23 the rest of the way? Seriously? are you sure? Id like to make a bet with you that they will be better than that.

    p.p.p.s.

This is not homer / pink hat rah rah stuff!  To say we don't have the pitching is to ignore an entire season worth of pretty darned good (albeit a bit shaky as of late) PITCHING by Red Sox pitchers.

In fact, to contend that we don't have the pitching is simply "black hat," uninformed, don't even watch the games or follow the stats, doom & gloom, small sample, KNOW NOTHING, horse shIET!

Our #5 Lackey has been a war horse, pitching all year long as a #2

Our #4 Dubby, has been the same (albeit getting worn down & NEEDS A REST)!  He's pitched like a #2 / .....  #3 all year long!

We've added Peavy, who is a SOLID #3

Lester is heating up as the solid #2 we know he can be

Buch could return as the FRESH #1 we know he is

Workman could spot start any day of the weak for me as a solid #3

    Dempster????  Oy!

The ragtag BP will step back up!

To say we don't have the pitching is simply FOOLISH dark cloud chicken little moronic ill informed know nothing zero baseball knowledge garbage!  ;)

At least the sox don't have to worry about the rays, they lost 6 straight not too long ago, so I guess they are out it. Every team has it's ups and downs over the course of a 162 game season. All that matters is where you are after game 162.

Maybe the sox have been chocking the tires on the duck boats, getting them ready.
