Maybe with Drew on the DL, putting Darnell on the DL as well makes room for Reddick to get some playing time in the MLB level RF position that's pretty much open for the Sox for the next week?

You too can manage at the major league level by memorizing these few Francona steps:

    1) construct lineup by alternating left & righthanded batters no matter their abilities
    2) give players a day off every five games regardless of streaks or fitness
    3) do not allow your starter to pitch less than four innings or more than 7innings/100 pitches whichever comes first
    4) designate relievers to be inning specialists - that will do away with any need to anaylyze or think through pitching changes
    5) let the veterans loaf through spring training and April games - its too early to matter
    6) send struggling players to the dl - it removes the need to discipline them or confront them about their shortcomings
    7) always tow the party line and refer to your GM as your boss for job security

It is more or less just a roster move.  JD is suffering from his tri-annual labial discomfert (AKA swollen Vag ina), this way they can make room for Reddick, who would seem to be an upgrade over Dmac and Cameron and is definitely an upgrade vs. RHP, which they are scheduled to face in 5-6 games.  Plus, it rewards Reddick, which he has earned at AAA.

And what's even more pathetic is that his example doesn't even fit the McDonald situation. McDonald has barely played, just 21 at-bats.

And the ridiculous  line "... instead of disciplining them and confronting them about their shortcomings."

    Discipline?
Is Franconal supposed to bench McDonald because he hasn't hit much in his few chances? Ummm ... he's already on the bench.

    Confront?
Is Francona supposed to yell at McDonald for not getting more hits the few times he gets the chance.

As for as I'm concerned, geo can keep posting that stupid post because it makes him look more idiotic each time.

It's never useless when the great wizard of georom4 deigns to enlighten us.

You gotta wonder just how a manager is supposed to "discipline" a player into hitting a round ball with a round bat, squarely.

McDonald got injured running the bases the other night.

Once again Georom is baiting and is successful.
