How about we go back the last 4 or 5 years since were spitting out random number of years to go back in this back and forth with you and zac. Truth is, BOTH teams gave some ridiculous deals and both have paid from it recently.
going forward more/most likely but
not sure how much those contracts have hurt ny yet
They key is, have they both learned from it?
I hear what U are asking 777
the teams that have signed the big stars haven't done well recently
but there are a lot more teams who haven't made any big signings
that have failed without the extra tix sales
truth is the yanks have had ridiculous contracts for yrs
and it hasn't hurt the franchise value, just the opposite IMO
name brands sell better
so many want to seperate the 2
but it is a biz
I agree with this and personally, I dont really care that the NYY spend so much. GS ALWAYS put back into that team and NYY will always have a ton of revenue coming in each year. Team owners should put it back into the organization. NYY should start to spend more wisely though going forward. Since there was no playoffs this year for NY, I think they may just ditch the 189M LT.
LAA and the Jays are the 2 newest teams that have realized its not about assembling a group of AS players, its about the right fit. Few are worth their $$ through the entire contract. Manny is one that comes to mind that I can honestly say was. Then theres the question if he was juicing when he was in Boston. Never tested positive, but....Very few players even come close to worth their salaries. Ellsbury could make north of 20M and will absolutely never be worth it with his skill set.
