    True, Ortiz is best but it does not change the fact that more teams are using the dh position less as a full time position.  Ortiz and the red sox fit well together, bottom line. But the market determines the value for the position.  Supply and demand sets the bar and there is not much demand in the AL for a full time dh.

    exactly, Papi is one of the best hitters in the league still and most teams don't get anywhere near the production from their DH's as we do.

    If Ortiz was a FA without draft pick compensation attached to him there would be a LOT of teams bidding on him.

    Would he get a 20+ million a yer for 7 years? of course not at his age.  But teams would pay big bucks for 2-3 years for him.
