I highly doubt they go after 2 OF FA that will cost in excess of 12M per with Gomes, Nava, Carp, JBJ, Victorino and then add one of those guys. They have more important needs than 2 OF'ers, so Id say only one. Most likely Beltran if they do get one.

    Beltran is 36 years old.

What the hell do we want with him?

At his age he'd only be a band aid until something better comes around.

You want an outfield of all guys 32 years old and older? Granderson, Victornio and Beltran might have been something to dream about in 2008 , but seriously....shouldn't the team be getting younger instead of looking for players who undoubtedly will end up on the DL?

37 years old, bad knees, big contract?

No thanks!  Let the Yankees have him.  He fits there perfectly.  He can share the ice packs with Jeter, Texeria, and ARoid

6-7 yrs are big contracts.  2-3 yrs are not!

Sox would not sign two big money OFs.  Beltran will not sign a one year contract.  He is also tied to a draft pick, as is Granderson.  Sox will end up passing on both I think.  They will get picks back for Ells, Drew and Napoli if they leave so they may sign a FA who is tied to a pick, but not two of them.

I'm keeping Victorino in Right. If I were the Sox I like Granderson, for 1 year only. He'll be looking for his last Big Payday, he plays a good CF, gives JBJ a little more seasoning. Then when he walks, you give a QO, to get a Pick. Dont worry about Leftfield so much, Nava, Gomes can handle it.

Dont move the Outfield so much, just 1 replacement. Work the system for picks.
Only problem with Granderson is he K's, once for every 3.8 at bats.

We already have our OF.  Gomes-JBJ-Vic, with Nava backing up with 300-400 ABs will be fine.

They should get better.  Whether or not that means getting younger is another matter..

So, you think signing a relic like Beltran for more than he is worth is getting better?

Did they learn nothing from the past?

How do you get "better" than 2013 anyway....when you are at the top there is only way direction you can go. "Better" is not an option.

I never said that anything about Beltran.  I am just pointing out that "younger" and "better" are not synonyms, which is a widely held belief from a ridiculously high amount of baseball fans.

Barring a huge potential upgrade, I doubt the Sox do much for the OF beyond maybe a backup capable of playing CF.  I think relying on Victorino to handle that role is faulty, as he is unlikely to get healthier...

One of those guys? Maybe. But why on earth would we give up TWO! Draft picks presumably in the 30-40 range for a 33 and a 36 year old who are both looking for multi year deals?

Im sorry but that outfield would be a disaster waiting to happen.  Could they be good for a year? They would be very good, but I think it's a horrible idea.

Who would actually think that we'd have this discussion this off season after this past year?????

What is wrong with JBjr, Victorino, Gomes, Nava and Kalish or one of the kids?????

Why go for Beltran too old or Granderson a 250 hitter yes he has had 40 HRs in 11 1nd 12 but that was in short porch Yankee stadium even Comerica Park is shorter than Fenway . Can you really see him hitting 40 in Boston

I wonder if Kalish is even tendered a contract, let alone an actual option in the OF...

Kalish is not the answer to anything.  He has not done a thing in the majors to merit any consideration.  He needs to play a whole season at AAA and prove he can play and stay healthy.
