They are a couple of good-looking young ballplayers.  Good times to be a Sox fan.

Re: IGGY & BRADLEY, as DAD would say .............

Both are looking great right now, but last year, if nothing else, taught the Sox not to jettison the old guys too soon.  Youk came back from rehab and couldn't find a slot because Middlebrooks was great at 3B, AGon at 1B, and Ortiz at DH.  So the Sox dumped him to the White Sox and even paid a big chunk of his salary.  By the end of the season the Sox were in need of all three because Middlebrooks and Ortiz were on the DL and AGon was traded to LA.

Of the two, I think Iglesias has the better shot at staying in the lineup because he obviously plays two infield positions extremely well--and no doubt would be as good at 2B--and his hitting is holding up.  Middlebrooks back problem could be recurring, plus he isn't hitting all that well.  Drew could get hurt as well.  But I think even Iglesias will need to depend on injuries to others to get into the lineup.  With everyone healthy, Pedroia, Drew, and Middlebrooks are the right combo for now.  Later in the season, things could change.

Bradley is blocked by Victorino, Ellsbury, and Nava/Gomes, plus he is a lefty bat on a team that needs good righty bats.  I do think the long double off of Hughes to start the decisive rally was a huge hit for Bradley last night, then he got two singles, all good.  He needed those.  Now there will be little hesitation to plug him in wherever and whenever he is needed. But don't forget the Friday night game against a lefty Yankee starter when Bradley struck out twice and grounded weakly to 1B.   He is very obviously the heir apparent to the CF slot in 2014.

It is also apparent both these guys don't want to stay on the farm and believe they are ready.  They probably are.  But the smart move is not to dump the guys ahead of them, at least not yet.  And keeping them in Boston as spot players makes less sense than letting them play every day for Pawtucket.

Your posts are becoming more and more obtuse.  Perhaps you might want to consider a new and different approach that I suspect would be widely appreciated by many on this board.  Good day to you sir.

dusty your a good poster and a true blue red sox fan. that said, you are totally wasting your time trying to talk reason to someone who isn't worth reasoning with. ignore works better. I would like to ask you what you thought about incredable circus play that iggy made with lightning speed and precision that made your jaw drop.
